| I have listened to other people try and explain it, but I just dont understand it as well as they do.
I understand the fastest time is considered 1st in 1D, and then anyone slower than her (but faster than 1/2 second) will be placed depending on the jackpot in the 1D. Then 2D is the fastest time 1/2 second slower than 1st in 1D, so on...
Someone please explain how payout works.
And do they use this format in professional rodeos and barrel races? I just dont understand. I understand what falling in the cracks mean (I've had my experience with that unfortunately)
If someone could just give me an example, I would understand better. Basically, if YOU were to put on your own jackpot, how would you place, and pay out?
It may seem like a stupid question, but Im having a hard time figuring it out. Thank you!! |

Location: Peach State | In a 4-D payout, the total jackpotted entry fees of a class is to be divided 35% to the 1st Division, 30% to the 2nd Division, 20% to the 3rd Division, and 15% to the 4th Division
Example of how NBHA 4d races pay. The 1d gets a higher percent and so on...
Pro rodeos don't do divisional splits |

Does not always have to be those percentages. Depends on associations. |

| In NBHA payouts 1D gets a larger percentage than 2D. 2D gets a larger percentage than 3D. 3D gets a larger percentage than 4D. If there is a 5D that gets a smaller percentage than 4D. A rodeo usually has nothing to do with the divisional barrel races. They are usually are true jackpots where the fastest times win the money. The percentage is usually determined by the rodeo committee. I have been to rodeos where they have had $500 added money and only paid one place so the winner came out pretty well. I was second and did not get a cent. Would have been kind of nice to at least get my enrty fee back. |
