My husband is going to San Antonio next weekend for an agriculture meeting and I may go along to escape the tundra for a while.    Are there any rodeos, clinics, anything horse related I could go watch while he's in meetings?  I'll have a rental car and am open to driving an hour or two to find something.

Thanks for any ideas.

Drive out to Bourne and see how the other half lives. You do have to get off the main drag though. Besides being beautiful, Charmayne James and George Strait live there. Don't know when the stock show is going on since I do not live in that area. Look on BHW events to look for barrel races. El Mercado downtown and the Riverwalk are nonhorsey essentials.

Would definitely go to the stock show and rodeo. If not to watch rodeo then to just see exhibits and shop.

FALSE ALARM!!!  I was all excited about the stock show then found out I had the wrong weekend.  Dang it, I got his meetings mixed up.  San Antonio meeting is February 27 - March 1.

Sorry, let's try again.....

There is Sea World, Six Flags over Texas I think its called that, Bass pro shops. I love walking on the Riverwalk, lots of good places to eat at. You got the Alamo down town San Antonio and lots of neat shops to walk around in.

San Antonio has a lot to offer for tourists:  Alamo, the Missions, amusement parks, great shopping and restaurants.  If you have a car, then I would also suggest a day trip to the Hill Country.

I think you would enjoy the visit.
