Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I feel like I am tonight and I'm pretty sure I have 5 horses that would agree! My grain always lasts me a month and I am supposed to go pick it up on Friday but it didn't make it all the way until then AND I forgot to stop and grab a bag on my way home!!  So they all got extra hay tonight!! Will it hurt them to not have it for a couple days?

Location: PA | hey ship happens it wont kill them to be without for a few days. I would do the same with giving a little extra hay. Its winter if your not really working them you wouldnt even notice the difference!
Though be prepared for the look of death when you go into the barn! |

Location: Oregon | LOL! I just ran out recently when we had snow. Had so many other things on my mind. Went to town, came home and totally spaced it. I feel so bad I rummage through my fridge for carrots or apples. They only missed one feeding but did get other treats. And they survived just fine. And yes they also got extra hay. My bad |

I gave them all hay and my mare took one bite and then it was like she realized something was missing and she stood by her gate and nickered at me every time I walked by....I can't believe I forgot! |

Location: Dearing, GA | Just be really careful since it is winter. I'm not sure where you are, but this happened to me last week, and my horse had to miss a dinner & a breakfast (He did get plenty of hay). He didn't drink the night that he missed dinner, so when I did feed I only gave half of his usual amount and I fixed him a bucket of senior water. Plus all the hay he could manage. Maybe I was over cautious, but I'd rather do everything I could to avoid a colic. |

Location: SW North Dakota | Jeez...you guys make me feel like a bad horse mom. My three are turned out to pasture and get fed hay every day with the cows. There is a lic tub out there and a wind break but that would be the extent of it. It's my 21 yr old retired gelding, my 6 yr old, and my weanling. Everyone looks fat and happy. I wish I could have gotten a video of them frolicking around yesterday. The weanling and the 6yr old are best buds and were tearing across the field with their tails sticking up like flags, bucking and kicking.
I think yours will be fine for a day or two. Sounds like they are well taken care of.  |

I am right there with you. My horses rarely see grain in the summer and only during the coldest months of winter do they get grained. They have grass 24/7 and hay (winter) on a consistent bases. Water 24/7 and free acess to a mineral block. They have never had any issues. |

Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving | Lol if your a bad mom for a few days without grain I can't imagine what some of mine say. My stud, 4 year old, yearling and 2 mares (not bred) don't get grain. Only my babies and 2 Preggo ones do. If you saw these guys you would know why too, they all are FAT; I had to put them on a diet and right now they don't get worked. I have really good grass hay in front of them 24/7 with all they want minerals and water. |

Location: Idahome | While my horses get grain nearly everyday, there are some days (especially in winter) they are lucky to get a hi. When it is cold and crappy I do my best to throw hay quickly and get in the house. I try to do a walk around and make sure no on is bleeding, but that's it. I would say yours will be fine. |

Oh good. I don't feel so bad now. Mine get no grain at all when they aren't rode. My 21 yr old doesn't get any ever. He's so round its ridiculous. He can look at grass/hay and gain weight. He actually looks the best of all three of them. They are never stalled at my place. They are always turned out in some sort of pasture. I think it keeps them fresh and happy. :) |

They didn't get too upset this morning when I went out so I didn't feel too bad. It would be different for me if they were out and had access to a round bale or grass all day but they don't. |
