Location: Benton City, WA | Have you put hoof testers on?
Did the new shoer have to make a lot of changes? Is this a gelding or mare? Running a fever? Have you been riding/running a lot? Any issues with body soreness in past? Any vaccines given recently? Where exactly is the horse sore?
I think we need a bit more info in order to try to help you |

I think we need a bit more info in order to try to help you Yes, vet put hoof testers on and nothing....he didn't change angles on the front as far as I can tell.
However on the back he said he was baring alot of weight on the outside on both hinds so he flattened the outside of the back shoe a little to give him more support.
Gelding and no not running alot, just legging him back up. Had hocks injected approximately 3 weeks ago, no vaccines yet.
He is forging on the front end, feels like dropping both hind hips, kinda like stubbing a toe....

This sounds like his stifle ligaments are too loose. Might need to check into having that corrected. If he is forging on the front, his break-over is not correct, weather it be the front or the hind or both.

 It Goes On

Location: Muskogee, OK | He very well could be body sore if the farrier changed him around enough to change the way he carries himself.
No way to know for sure without doing a complete work up--even then its basically a diagnosis of exclusion (ruling everything else out). Even if the farrier shod him in a very correct way--it still could be very different from what the horse was used to and could cause him to be a little sore. IF it is the change in shoeing then once he adapts to it he should work out of it. |

I have an appointment with the vet for Monday.....I hate it when they just don't feel right but nothing popping out at ya to say this is what is wrong.
When he is sore in his hocks or SI he will not roll, he is still rolling..so that is a good sign.
When he steps out of the trailer....he steps out normally on his hind end, but when he goes to step out on his front end.....he just plopps out instead of stepping...weird I know, but was hoping someone else has had the same issues that could give me some places to look on him. |
