Prndi - 2014-02-19 7:16 PM  Thank you for all of the information.  Is the yellow dial soap a liquid?  I also have a Clarisonic pro and have used the deep poor cleansing wash they have and it still didn't help.

The Dial soap was the plain yellow bar, that's what my dermatologist said to use....it worked so well.  The other thing is to get over the addiciton to thinking you HAVE to moisturize with something...doc said your face feels overly dry because your so used to moisturizing, it is not as dry as you think it is.

I got a suggestion years ago on here to try Acne Free. It worked wonders.  I had Rosacea and tried prescription topicals but could not afford them when I no longer had insurance.  I buy it at Wal Mart for around 18.00.  They have a sensitive skin formula too.  It's similar to Pro Active, but less expensive and available without having to order it.  So, whoever posted about it back then I thank them for giving me confidence and my clear complexion back!

I tried many things. i had bad acne as a teenager and adult. I have used proactiv for about 9 years now and love it. It works very well for me and actually started working right away.

I too use Pro Active and have for 14 years. Works great for me also! I agree it didn't take long to notice results!

My Mom and I both have Rosacea and get minor break outs, we can use something for a while then we have to change. But we have found the Mary Kay Clear Skin for Acne system is working great! I also Have the Mary Kay exfoliating brush, which helps when I get super oily, have loads of makeup on and cant get it off with regular washing, or super dirty from the arena. I only use it once or twice a week. Have been noticing my skin drying out more now that I am older and that it winter and of Course Oregon has been having a crazy dry winter for us.

I have to disagree with you.....I don't use a moisturizer daily or even weekly because a few days later I usually will have a few bumps coming out. My face is very sensitive. I wash my face daily & I know my face gets dry. It gets so dry sometimes that it hurts, but itches at the same time. Its aggravating. The ONLY time I use a moisturizer is when my face gets real dry like that. I use Pond's moisturizer & only about a nickel sized amount all over my face when it gets real dry. I usually don't have to use moisturizer again for a couple weeks. Winter time is the worst for my skin.....blah lol

I find my skin reacts to my diet more than anything. If I eat anything made with canned tomatoes (tomato sause, paste, etc) such as pizza or spaghetti my skin will break out in two days. If I eat bread I get tiny little pimples. If I have too much ranch dressing, ketchup, salsa, chocolate, or candy all hell breaks loose on my face.

I tried a bunch of different face washes and such and it wasn't until a friend mentioned that she avoids pizza for the sake of her skin that I started paying attention to my diet.

Now I mostly avoid specific foods, and do a baking soda scrub once a week and my skin feels its best!

wipe your face with alchol and smear with aloe gel & let dry on your face - has worked great for my kids.

Doesn't the alcohol burn?

Adult and teen acne aren't the same and have to be treated differntly sometimes. I fought deep cystic acne for 4 years. And also fought w my dermatologist, all 4 of them.. Finally got on prednisone which helped but didn't stay on long enough so I was on it a total of 3 months. I was also on a long term antibiotic for skin infections. I along w prescriptions started the Proactiv plus which i am only using now and all my deep, as well as superficial acne is gone. It's a long hard embarrassing road but I'm happy to say so far it's gone and my scars are clearing up :) talk to your dermatologist. I had to be half demanding w my derm to get him to give me something stronger because everything else just didn't work.

Good luck and don't give up. Also- don't pick on your face. It's worse!!!

I always had decent skin, no real everyday problems with Acne but would occasionally have a breakout around my period. Then about 4 years ago it seemed like over night my skin went on a bender, woke up with a few big pimples that quickly turned into the cyst type ones, any type of acne spot medicine seemed to dry it out and make it flaky but wouldn't take the actual bump away. Seemed like the more I tried to "clean" the area the worse it got. I did change to Bare Minerals foundation, it seemed to be the only thing I could use that didn't make my skin worse. Finally someone suggested Aveeno Calming cleanser which was a huge help, HUGE!!! As well as the Calming Lotion. Also went and got put on a very low dose BC even though my gyno really didnt' want to because of my age, I was 44 at the time. Within about a week that seemed to take care of any remaining issues. I have found over the years that with my skin today, less is more.

Nothing to disagree about.  I was just re-stating exactly what my dermatologist said to me about my adult breakouts.  He talked ME into not moisturizing saying I'd get used to not having to have the feel of moisturizer on my face.  He was spot on for me.  I'm just telling my experiences....nothing to disagree about.

I'm the opposite than some of you! I've had acne since I was 10 and it's been really tough. It got really bad at times because of certain birth controls I was on, and then got a little better when I started college 2 years ago. I quit birth control 2 weeks ago and (knock on wood) my face seems to be better but I'm getting bad acne on my back :/ I use Purpose face wash and it really seems to help!! I also use sun block (I'm thinking it's Cetaphil, but I can't remember) and it seems to help too! My face is dry but moisturizer, although it helps, brings break outs with it for me. I'll be trying the dial for my body to see if it helps my bacne. Lol. I hope you find something to help!! I really do feel your pain...for a long time, and even recently I just pray for clear skin. It may sound vain but I feel 100 times more confident with it and have felt low as low when my face has been at it's worse. Being a lifeguard this past summer, my face was spotless! As well as going to the beach with the salt water. I'd love to bottle up the ocean and pool water and use it for my face

If it is cause by a hormone imbalance do you go to the dermatologist or ob/gyn?

I have been having trouble the last year or two with acne (well I've always had problems but suddenly the random pimples became deep and always popping up in the same places) plus my hair started feeling like a brillo pad. I had the HARDEST time trying to pull a comb through it after a shower.  My hair dresser and I were discussing it because more I kept trying to find conditioners that would make my hair feel more managable. She mentioned hormonal cystic acne and I did some reading up on it. I found a website that mentioned a supplement called Estroblock, took a chance and ordered it. GOD SEND!!! Within a matter of a few weeks my hair was softer and slowly but surely my face started clearing up. When I'm on it consistantly (as in I don't skip a day because I forgot to order it) my face is nearly flawless. It isn't cheap. I pay $40 for a month's worth because I take the pro fomula (there is a less potent version that is $30 a bottle) but I decided, I'm worth the expense. My hair is happy, my face isn't broken out 24/7/365... and the bottle says it helps in weight management. Something about us older hormonal gals makes us more prone to belly fat. I can't say I've noticed a difference in my weight because I take it, but I didn't buy it for that reason anyhow. ;)

Update- I went to the doctor and he said it's not acne, its rosacea. He prescribed some Metrogel but they had to order and it won't be here till the end of the week. Anyone else have this? Treatments?
