Actually if Lisa was riding in the Lisa Lockhart barrel saddle, it is a treeless.
Lisa's is not a treeless, I have one it is a flex tree the bars are made of puck board.

Location: The edge of no where | BBrewster - 2014-03-04 9:58 PM I thought it would be interesting to take note of what barrel racers preferred to use as far as equipment goes for the competitors at the American...heres what I noticed with the 21 barrel racers of the long go: All wore some sort of front leg protection 16 wore rear leg protection Most used some sort of draw or gag bit while 4 used some version of the snaffle the only one who ran in a simple o.ring was Happy.. Only 5 used a tie down...Clint used a brain chain type tie down the rest were the traditional style Everyone wore a breast collar except Gretchen and Charmayne Everyone wore a flank cinch except for Clint 11 used a whip or over n under on their horse during their run Of those 11 two of them hit barrels Only 4 people actually knocked a barrel over during their run The first barrel was hit 3 times while the 2nd barrel never went over..third barrel went over once I obviously had way too much time on my hands last night lol but I thought I'd like to know some equipment preferences of our elite!!
Next time you're bored.... give us a break down of the saddles.

No tie down, no whip. I just watched the re run but it moved so fast I couldn't tell much and I didn't pause it. I'm honestly not sure if she was riding in one of her saddles or not and the saddle pad was plain gray, like maybe a CE or impact gel? Not sure. |

I'm laughing cause I saw your other post under Cheryl's on the "hockey puck size serving" thread..saying you have never seen a hockey puck..must be a Cdn thing LOL....puck board is the white polyethylene plastic stuff on the boards of hockey arenas.....its just a hard plastic |

As a kid I spent many cold nights playing hockey in an outdoor rink with the neighbours, and loved every minute of it, and up until now didn't realize how hockey equipment can be used in our daily lives.
Ps hockey pucks are not that big, and puck board is very flexible, but doesn't crack easily under cold conditions or trauma, so I can see how it would be good to have in a saddle.
If you go to the circle y site you can look to see how the Kelly kaminiski saddle trees are made look under flex 2

Charmayne hit in the first round. She wasn't in the shootout. |

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | Yea only 4 people hit barrels in long round charmayne was one of em...iin shootout 3 did...Lisa was last up and all she had to do was ride clean...and she still ran a smoking time instead of safteying up... but lisa didn't whip and didn't use a tie down...pretty cool cat! |

I'm pretty sure most of last year she rode in the Simplicity, and at the NFR the year before I think it was. But I've only seen her run in the o-ring the first year he was at the NFR |

Some horses don't like hitting them when they stride out. That would be my guess. If your saddle fits well enough, you don't need one anyway except to look pretty or hang a tie down keeper on. |
