| A year ago today, I was hospitalized for a sever systemic skin reaction. I was literally covered from the top of my head to the soles of my feet and inside my throat. I am still attempting to search for answers because the thought of it happening again scares me. Doctors searched for every illness imaginable and came up empty handed. I'm looking for other people who might have experienced something similar.

Location: Up and over to the right | Omg that made me so itchy to look at! Were you on steroids? Any topical stuff to help? Glad you're alright! I wonder if it was something you ate or touched. My brother will puff up terribly if he touches anything with green food dye. |

Location: Florida | The same thing happened to me. I had an allergic reaction to taking a sulfa based antibiotic. About three years later I started breaking out again for no reason. Not as bad but it lasted on and off for six months and just stopped. I am now allergic to any antibiotic I've tried to take since the sulfa incident. The doctors have no idea what caused them to happen the last time. I'm always scared it's going to happen again too! I just always carry Benadryl and an Epi-Pen. |

Location: Texas | Oh my goodness you poor thing. This looks exactly like the penicillin rash my son got! He was given amoxicillin for an ear infection and four days into broke out like that. Oatmeal bathes and steroid cream worked for him and now he doesn't get anything with penicillin in it. He was covered head to toe as well. It was terrible!! |

It took about a month and a half before it completely went away. My extremities took the longest to clear up. My skin started turning a purple color before clearing up. |

I ate Subway for lunch and deer meat the day before it happened. The doctors literally went over every little thing I did leading up to this. They had me on steroids and benadryl, but nothing would stop the pain. They had to use ice on my body to relieve the pain. |

Location: The Oklahoma plains. | I totally understand your fear of this happening again! I had horrible horrible hives for oer two years straight. I would not wish that on my worst enemy.
I ended up at a immunologist. Tested for over 400 items. I am literally not allergic to anything they have a test for. I did have a high titer (sp?) for autoimmune so they tested me for several autoimmune issues. They could not find anything. I took tons of meds. Broke my collar bone during this time- torture itching like that and not being able to move!! Needed surgery but meds I was on suppressed my immune system so I could not risk it.
It is a mystery. I hope you never go thru this again. |

| Any vaccines within a month of rash, did they test for foot and mouth, any testing for autoimmune diseases, did they test for strep infection ( can cause rash, painful joints, fever, abnormal blood pressure different in each arm)
Those are my guesses as it would be helpful to see bloodwork, and tests they did do |

I never ran a fever and my blood pressure was fine. I'm not sure what all they tested for, but their initial thought was Steven Johnson Syndrome. Thank God that was not it!! I looked it up online and almost lost it because the pictures were so gruesome. I didn't have painful joints. I did spray an insecticide in the greenhouse about a week prior and we also bought a new truck a few days before it happened. I have sprayed that insecticide numerous times though, so the doctors did not believe that caused the outbreak. He called the dealership to figure out what cleaning agents were used inside the truck. They didn't use anything that I have not been exposed to before. |
