Hey everyone! I'm moving to the Las Vegas area from Canada and wondering if any of you live there or near? Just wanting to connect with some people and figure out how to find out where the jackpots are, what the most popular feeds, supplements are in that area etc, which vets to stay away from, recoomended farrier....well basically anything to do with having barrel horses when moving to another country lol :) Thanks!!

Check the website www.mrsudoubtfire.com Most, if not all, of the local races are listed under "up coming events". Also check out www.swbraut01.com for Southern Utah races which are a short drive away.

There is a lot as far as barrel racing in our area. You will find us a very diversified bunch.  There are MANY vets and farriers to choose from and just like anywhere else, there are MANY opinions on them all. Personally, my good vet is down in Apple Valley California. (He's a genius) And as far as a farrier, you will want to just look at others' horses and see what you think, also might depend on exactly where you are living. As others have said, mrsudoubtfire.com is the best place to get info on events and such. Hay is pretty expensive here. Alfalfa is the easiest to get but we get grass too. Hay is pretty close to $300+ per ton give or take depending on what type and where you get it. Cubes are super popular and you can get them from a few different sources for about half the cost of hay. Facebook is a HUGE connection place here for all sorts of info. PM me and I'll give ya quite a few pages you will find helpful. Be prepared for 3 months of triple digit temps where it doesn't cool off. But the plus side is our spring and fall are PERFECT. Winter here is a piece of cake compared to what you are used to I'm sure. And the best part...... NFR!!!!!! The South Point Casino hosts 2 LARGE barrel races every year, NBHA Super Show in June and Buckles & Barrels for Bailey in Sept. Welcome to Nevada :
