RE: Hock fusion with Alcohol
I had it done - twice- and it didn't do a thing but cost me money. AFTER I had it done my vet told me the new research was showing that it isn't as effective as originally thought. My advice would be not to waste your time and money.

I don't but just had the conversation with my vet, the studies that have been done do not show a great success rate.
There is a very long regime on rehabbing the horse, and I think it is 6 months before you can compete.
There needs to be a contrast study done prior to the injection to ensure there is no communication between the lower and upper joints. If there is communication and you inject with alcohol, the horse will have irreversible damage.
I have done laser, yes it is pricey, but it has more success rate, and your back and riding in 3 weeks.
