| HI, I am in Hamilton . I have several friends in Lewiston I don't know about the barrel racing really but there seems to be plenty to do fairly close and I know there are some nice boarding places around. I can get you there names if you go, they are very nice and helpful. |

| There are some local jackpots right in Lewiston throughout the yr both indoor and outdoor. And Lewiston is still close enough to Walla Walla and Tri Cities where there are tons of races! The weather is also great for riding all year :) |

Location: The Frozen North | Well, I like the sound of that! I'll try to contact gatorhorse, but if anybody has any leads on boarding I would really appreciate it. Not much comes up with an internet search but that doesn't mean they're not out there! |

| I live just 30 minutes from Lewiston and the rodeo/barrel scene is booming. There are lots of jackpots and races all summer and several series that go on even through the winter. Like someone else said, you are still close enough to Walla Walla, Tri Cities, Ellensburg and other cities like that where there are always lots of races and rodeos. And in September there is always the Lewiston Round-Up which is a huge event that pulls the big guns in from all over. There are also several nice places to board and two really great veterinary facilities right in Lewiston. Its a great place to be! |

| It is HOT in the summer time so be prepared to ride before work. I live north of there and I may complain about my winters and my friends who live down there that can ride in early February but I could not take the heat in the summer. But I haul down there a lot. Tons of local jackpots all summer and winter long, along with a handful of a few big races throughout the year and close to Walla Walla and Tri Cities where all the bigger races are at. WELCOME to the area!!! The Palouse is beautiful. |

Location: Spokompton, Wa | I live in Spokane but frequent Lewiston often. (My husband's son lives there and my husband grew up there) I really like the area. It's a smaller town but have plenty of stores. It's kind of a neat town though with how it sits down in a valley. And pretty with the Snake and Clearwater River running thru it. It has really mild weather.
They have about a race monthly, even thru winter. Since they have mild weather. So they can keep things going. I have hauled a few times and ran down there. And as others have said, you are close enough to Walla Walla and Pasco for the big races.
I would rather live in Lewiston then Spokane but my husband says no. lol |

| Night and day difference between Princeton and Lewiston - there are mountains and trees in Princeton. I agree - it IS beautiful. I like Lewiston too - beautiful in a different way. I just can't take the heat of the summers. I am wimpy that way. |

Location: The Frozen North | Thanks for all the info guys, I think I could take a little heat if it meant milder winters! I had my horses with me in southern Missouri for a couple years and boy was that an adjustment for a Montana girl and northern ponys....Lots of 6am rides so we didn't melt! |

| I have wondered what the area is like for barrel racing too. My idea of heaven is basically that area. We tried to buy a place or two in Santa, Idaho and I still dream of the area. There wasn't much up that way for work at the time, so we ended up back here. Now hubby is pushing for Texas and I just can't take the heat either!
I dream of moving someplace that has no cell phone reception + not very many people.....but still be able to afford to keep my "ponies".
Edited to add: Color me jealous!

rodeoveteran - Santa, ID has WINTER! But it is pretty. I live a few short miles from town and I don't have cell service at my house, it's a blessing and a curse. I'd like to get rid of my land line but can't because unless I walk up to the corner of my pasture (on a mild slope) I can't get service. So there are places to be had like that around here. If you go North a little ways you have the best of both worlds. But I do not ride for about 3 months out of the year during the winters. Love the area though. I love Texas but I think the heat AND humidity would get to me! |
