Location: Louisiana | It's been a while since I posted here on BHW about barrel racing. I have been out of it for a few years, so I just really haven't had anything to say. First, my horse died, then I couldn't find another one that I clicked with, and finally my Dr. said I shouldn't run barrels anymore due to an old back injury. But I'm back at it, in my new roll as Ma-maw to the barrel racer. My son's little girl, who is 21 months old, loves all animals, especially horses. She has started leadline barrels (and soon poles) in the local riding club playdays. I have had a hard time finding the type of old, slow pony I wanted for her, but Sammy the 6 yr. old small horse is doing well. Meet Peyten & Sammy at their first playday (of many to come!). That's Ma-maw (me) and Daddy (my son) assisting. It won't be long before this little spitfire will be wanting to do it by herself! Then my daughter's baby girl is coming along right behind her at age 6 months, with another baby expected in a few months. I think I'm gonna have my hands full, but I love it!!

| It's great that you're still there in the arena! Maybe you'll run across a smooth and easy ride one day and find yourself back riding. Doctors always err on the side of paranoia, and they have no clue as to the mental AND physical positives that horses add to our lives.
Have fun no matter what! |

| Love it! She sure will be doing all by herself soon! And at 6 yrs old that little horse oughta come along right with her, this will be a fun partnership to watch grow! We have a little gal who runs in our area, still in buddy stirrups but gets out and goes! She'll be a force in the youth once her legs reach last the saddle pad... |

Location: nearby | I really liked reading your story and seeing the picture. She is very fortunate to have you and your hubby help her. Hopefully, you can ride along with her and the best thing is, you can go at your own pace! Be sure to keep pictures coming as she progresses. I think she'll like pole bending. |
