in a powerstroke? I can't remember if it's the 7.3L or 6.0L....I'm looking at a few that have low mileage...and want one that won't have alot of issues

I personally think the 7.3 is way better.

That's the one I thought was the best, couldn't remember LOL. Don't they say to look for one older than the 2004 models?

Stay AWAY from the 6.0!! My sister had one...she was advised to not buy it (bought it used), but did anyway and it was a piece of junk.

7.3 is the better Powerstroke engine...heard WAY too many bad things about 6.0. I'm anxious to see how the new 6.7 does.  I think to get a 7.3 you have to be 2003 or older.

The 7.3 was last put in till the mid year of 2003. I have both a 7.3 and a 6.0 in F-350. I have not had a bit of trouble with either one of them. But I think the 7.3 is a more reliable motor.

Don't waste your time with the 6.0

7.3L is definitely the better engine. More reliable, a lot less issues than the 6.0L, especially if you are planning on hauling with it. I know some people with 6.0Ls and only one person, out of the several I know, has not had a boat load of problems with their truck. They can be great trucks to build up and use for other purposes, but I would never choose one over a 7.3L. 7.3Ls are from sometime in the mid-90s to about halfway through 2003.

Early 2003 until 1995 (I think) have the turbo diesel 7.3. I have an early 2003 model, one of the last 7.3 ever made. Love love love her. Best truck ever. She can haul anything you can hitch up. And does it well. I believe she has a chip in her, that makes her extra zippy with & without the trailer. And I haul a 20 foot steel trailer with 4 horses.

They last a long time. And are a workhorse. Nothing foo foo about them. All business.

6.7 is gonna get you the best mileage (Newest)
6.4 is gonna get you the most power (2008+)
6.0 sucks(2003-2007)
7.3 is a guzzler but powerful. You can roll lots of coal with this. (2003-)

I personally like my 6.4 F250 with H&S Black Maxx tuner (it's outlawed now but the Mini Maxx is good too) Makes close to 700hp and can pull a 40 foot gooseneck with no problem (and the tow haul mode doesn't even work)

Personally my favorite combo of engine/interior design.
I'd take the 6.7 next, then the 7.3. Then any dodge, then toyota, then nissan, then the 6.0, then any chevy. Lol

That's a good truck.

We have the 7.3 and the 6.0. I like both pretty equally. It's been harder to get horsepower out of the 7.3 though, but it does it's job well.

Sounds like a good deal, especially if the truck is in good shape! The 7.3s don't make the most power, but they get the job done with next to no issues from my experiences and they are just plain workhorses. As my boyfriend says "It won't get you there fast, but you can count on it to get you there"! I think you'd be very happy with your choice...I just went through the truck search over summer and am so happy I settled for my 2003 7.3!

We are Ford lovers but don't get a 6.0!  Those were the engine from H E L L.  We have a new 2014 with the 6.4 and like it so far.

The 94-03 1/3 7.3L Powerstroke is the most reliable engine in the Powerstroke Family. And 99-03 1/2 Fords are the ones to go with!
