My older TG Frontier fits mine really well. I have a custom San Angelo that does too but I really love my Frontier for myself too.

I am waiting on my Meleta Brown freedom fit to arrive to try on my hard to fit appendix. He is far from lean though. He is thick with a good withers and that dip to his back. He has been very hard to fit.

I ride my appendix in a custom made courts for roping and then circle y treeless for barrels.
Before I got the treeless I used a prorider full bars that seemed to fit pretty well
(never had any soreness issues
)

I have a Meleta Brown that fits my mare good. I use a 7/8 5 star pad with it.

My gelding and last gelding were both appendix horses and leaner build. Had great luck with Debra Sibley Ultra Lite Flex Trees.

if you're looking for something cheaper I would recommend a Dakota or a Triple Creek. I have ridden my friend's appendix in both and both these saddles fit him really well.

Have any of you used any special padding or shims for this? I do have an old Bio Fit Pad that was for a horse that we have already sold.
OR does anyone treeless saddle to fit these horses? do you still need special pad or shims?

I ride both of my horses built this way in a basic Billy Cook barrel saddle with semi-quarter horse bars. Fits great. And you can get them very affordablyl used.
Sulphur, OK made of course.

Which model? I have a 1530 but it is too wide in the wither area... but if i build it up with shims it might fit better....

My appendix is also very hard to fit. She is small... 14.2 / 900 lbs & has a wide, flat back & very little withers.
