| Seek God and Live! One of the benefits of our salvation is the union we have with Christ. When we trust Jesus alone to save us, His life, death and resurrection become our life, death, and resurrection.
David foreshadowed this union in Psalm 69. he showed that oneness with Christ means more than the "easy life" . If we truly unite with Christ in salvation, we will also join with Him in the persecution and suffering He endures. 1 Peter 2:20-24 But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. In stead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
You may be thinking , How in the world can union with Christ be beneficial if it means I must endure persecution and suffering? That question was answered by David; " And you who seek God, your hearts shall live" Those who truly seek God will live forever because "in Christ" they are already victorious over the persecution and suffering that will come their way. Though evildoers may crowd around you, in Christ you have already overcome! For this reason " Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them."
Those who do evil against you may never be brought to justice on this earth, but justice will come when the King returns. Regardless of the timing of HIs coming, in Christ you can persevere now. Praise God for you union with Jesus and rest in the victory He won at the cross on your behalf.
Psalm 69:22-26 Let their table become a snare before the, and their well being a trap. Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do no see; and make their loins shake continually. Pour out Your indignation upon them, and let Your wrathful anger take hold of them. Let their dwelling place be desolate; let not one live in their tents. For they persecute the ones You have struck, and talk of the grief of those You have wounded. Add iniquity to their iniquity, and let them not come into Your righteousness. Let them be blotted out of the book of he living and not be written with the righteous. But I am poor and sorrowful; let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high. I will PRAISE the name of God with song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bull. Which has horns and hooves. The humble shall see this and be glad; and you who seek God, your hearts shall live. For the Lord hears the poor and does not despise His prisoners. Let heaven and earth. PRAISE Him, the seas and everything that moves in them. For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it. Also, the descendants of His servants shall inherit it, And those who love His name shall dwell in it.
