| I have a 12 year old Quarter Horse gelding that is very high strung... so high strung that it has got to the point where I can't even ride him. Does anyone recommend calming supplements or do they hurt horses? Can you ride a horse that is on a calming supplement? Please let me know! |

| The biggest thing I would look at first is what you're feeding him.. That can make a HUGE difference in how they act... |

| If you cannot ride the horse, I'd look into a trainer or a good horse sale before I bought supplements. To me a calming supplement is for the horse that gets a little too antsy with competition or in new setting. Not for an animal that is unrideable without it. |

| Weve had him checked by a chiropractor and a vet and they both said that he is just a high strung horse and there is nothing wrong with him. I don't compete with him he's strictly trail. |

| Your horse, your decision. If it were mine, I'd sent it to someone to put so many wet saddle blankets on it that it would either get a new outlook on life or die of exhaustion......
There is no excuse for a 12 year old to be unrideable. |

| PS: I have been known to use calming cookies from Total Health Enhancement when I felt like they would benefit a nervous horse. |

Location: Sunnyland Florida | You mentioned it has gotten to this point..... was he calm and rideable when you purchased him? How long before he became unrideable?
Could be a simple fix, like your feeding program, lack of 24/7 hay or ulcers, or pain.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | THE Calming Powder and Cookies, but I would also want to know if maybe he is lacking something in his diet to make him so worked up or also pain. I have seen horses with nothing more than heel pain act nuts...one had a wolf tooth that was bugging him, ulcers, bad fitting saddle. Could be so many things. |

| animal elements detox and for immediate results until the detox gets into system well (about 6 weeks) in the zone will help within 30 minutes |
