Norri - 2014-04-09 8:58 AM Hugs!!!! I agree with everything mentioned above. This just popped into my head. Does he have a dog? If not would your hubby and you be ok with him getting one. Animals, and specially dogs do wonders on the soul. They are always happy to see you, they don't judge, they are get listeners, ect ect
and a Animal gives the person a "purpose" and unconditional love.. I would think maybe he isnt happy or to much pressure in the city and work related.. some people dont need "friends and a social life" some do better in the woods and around a farm and physically busy .. Id let him go home for a awhile.. sometimes the simple pleasures of the wide open fields and the animals depending on you.. help you..close to nature close to god.. and with his parents..

barrelbasher - 2014-04-08 5:56 PM I think if he is able to keep working that would be best for him. Going home to live with your parents and not doing anything to fill the day is the worst thing he could do. Depression is always worst when the mind is idle, when people are busy they do t have time to think and dwell on the things that are bringing them down. Even if he doesn't want to go to counseling he does need to, however unless he makes an honest effort with a therapist the time won't be productive for him. Perhaps he will talk to you and tell you why he feels like he does. In my opinion the worst thing anyone could do for him is to dismiss his feeling by sayin things like " don't think like that" or say he's being silly etc. it is important that his feelings are validated even if you don't understand them.
Good advice. Counseling with a GOOD counselor is paramount....getting it out instead of keeping it in is so important. Yes, finding purpose is also key, as is just keeping very busy. Now to be personal...I struggled with suicidal thoughts for the last 12 years, serious depression. I believe God finally lifted me out of the suicide part, though i still struggle and am medicated for depression. I'll never know this side of heaven why he did not deliver me sooner...it was a really bad time. Ultimately, what saved my life
(besides God
), was my child. I have a young son with Down Syndrome...I could never get to the place where I could accept leaving that child, my baby, with no momma, and the pain and horror that legacy would have been. Simply put, I love my child more than I love myself. I'll pray for your brother, that God Himself intervenes in his life, like He did mine. Keep us updated.

Does he like to ride horses? Sounds like he needs a hobby? Good luck and hope he comes around.
