After reading everyone's response here, I will have to say that I am surprized.  I do not believe in a one saddle fits all. It might seem to many of you that because you have several horses with similar size that you can fit your saddle on him/her, but the reality is that any small size change in hight or width or even a small weight different might be hurting your animal even though to you it looks right.

I will totally recomend you spend that extra dollar and fit your animal right. If you are training or riding different horses, then I hope to God that the owner be concerned enough to buy the right size for his or her horse.

Again, do what is right.  Measure the horse and get him/her the right size saddle.  The slightest difference can hurt your horse.

And for those out there that have more than one horse, get them their own individual saddles.. trust me, you can hurt your horse so much in the long run.

realistically, the only thing that is going to fit a majority of horses is a treeless because there is really nothing you have to "fit" bar-wise. That being said, I personally don't care for them. I don't feel the weight distribution is great, but then again a treeless is better than a horrible fitting treed saddle (in my limited experience).

We all do the best we can with saddlefit. I have observed that using a good pad is very important and can help distribute pressure since I am not able to have 85098309 saddles for every slight change in my horse's physique or a saddle for every horse I might ride.

I don't think there is any one Treed saddle out there that fits a majority of horses. JMO

I have had good luck with making a flex tree work on a horse, but when I rode in one for an extended period of time my horse developed soreness in the back. Saddlefit is very frustrating. English saddles were much easier to fit! Probably the thing I miss most about riding English...

RodeoCowgirl4u - 2014-04-09 6:18 PM My Martha Josey...it fits my 2 year old (one of Krystal's colts) my foundation bred mare that looks like she's more race built, my cutter reject, and a Paint/TWH thing that is our trail horse. I just have to make pad adjustments according to which horse it is. It doesn't fit everyone "perfect," but then again neither does my Triple Creek, my Crown C, my Dakota, or the CJ Record Breaker that I just sold. Uggh...good luck. LOL
Maybe I should try a Martha Josey?
I love the way it fits all the horses but I honestly feel like I move around too much when I run in it. I like the TC much better for making a run in, but having been a jumper rider I tend to get way too forward as it is. And I think Cody is going to be way too big for any of the saddles except for maybe the Martin. I put the MJ on him and it FITS! He won't actually be 2 until next month...this is the wide tree. I am NOT looking forward to saddle hunting AGAIN. I had 12 saddles and 4 horses. I don't NEED that many saddles! (But don't tell my husband that! LOl)

Debra Sibley. When I bought my first one I was riding 9 different horses. I just switched pads and it fit everyone of them. Plus I wouldnt hesitate to take out on an all day hard trail ride. Super comfy once you get used to them.

How do the sizes run on a Sibley.  smaller/larger than a treed or same?

I am having good luck with my Jordon Peterson Contender fitting most of what I have. I ride around 8 horses and I've had good luck with it. No saddle is going to fit EVERYTHING, but I've been able to use different saddle pads to adjust accordingly. I've also had good luck with Martha Josey saddles. My Crown C is a different story though ;)

What bars are these saddles that seem to fit most horses? FQHB? Semi?

Semi seem to be too narrow for anything I ride over the age of 4-5. I have good luck with my regular bars and my full bar saddle seems to wide and flared in the front for most.

BLACK RHINO !!! This saddle has fit every horse we've put it on in the 10 years I've owned it. Race type. Cow typ. mutton withered. Flat backed. Short backed. I put it up for sale be cuss I didn't think it would fit my broad flat backed horse....wrong! I now understand why you can't buy the older black rhinos anymore!! I have yet to find anything that fits as wide of a variety!!!!!

Shiloh Saddlery - I've had several, and they fit tall, narrow horses & short wide horses. I've only had one horse that my Cecil Phillips did not fit. Not only that, but IMO they are the best quality for the price.

I am starting to breed and buy the same conformation of horse, so I will not have to play the saddle fitting game
