Location: Southeast, Texas | Has anyone ever dealt with wood bees? They have invaded my barn. (Yes, it's all wood framed.) It is a old barn, and they have holes bored EVERYWHERE! We were told to spray insecticide in the holes and caulk them. Did that. They bore right back through. The horses are going bonkers, and my barn is getting eaten!! Help! |

| Spray plain old motor oil in the holes and any wood framing you think they may attack ... their larvae are in the holes.... usually they will not go further than 10 ft into your barn .... they need the sunlight as a guide in order to fly ...
Yellow pine is their choice timber to drill on ... lol ... ever see such perfect holes ... lol
Just use a qt spray bottle and buy the thinnest cheapest oil you can and a ladder ........ the oil will screw up the sprayer head ... so buy you several $1 spray bottles .... I just found some at Home Depot yesterday ....
GOOD LUCK ... |

Location: Southeast, Texas | I can do that!! My barn is 36x36, open on both ends. I guess they have plenty of light because they are EVERYWHERE! They are worse in the alley, and closer to the doors. I am not even exaggerating when I say there are at least 100 bees buzzing in my barn. I had to put the horses out because they were going nuts. I will motor oil the entire barn!
And, you are right! They make perfect holes, and tunnels! What were these things intended for? Sheesh!!

You may need one of the 3 gallon $20 sprayers to shoot the whole barn .... otherwise your trigger finger is going to wear out ....
If you by chance have used motor oil use it ... it must have a really bad taste compared to new oil .... because the bees I have had left quicker with the used oil ... lol ..
If you are a serial killer ... then use one of these two after you have oiled everything down .... pay attention to how little it takes if you are going to make your own fly horse spray !!
Premise spray I use a garden hose sprayer and double the dose and let it dry out for a day or two before letting horses back in ... and take out your buckets or spray down with water any hay racks or attached feeders just as a precaution ...

You will like either of the above if only for stable flies ... knock down is tremendous ... you can hear the flies yelling ... MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY .... the instant they fly in the barn .... lol
