Location: Dearing, GA | If you were shopping for a prospect (a horse NOT finished on the pattern), what do you want to see them do in their video?
I took video w/t/l in both directions, and with "whoa" and backing up a little. Then I took video of us jogging and loping through the barrels, which is as much as he knows. I see some videos with people showing the horse standing while they saddle, doing groundwork, loading in a trailer, etc. Is that over kill or are those things you look for in a sale video for a propsect? |

I think I assume that if they are on the pattern then they should definitely be able to be saddled, complete ground work, and load. IMO, if they haven't conquered those concepts they have no business being on the pattern yet.
If you are advertising a horse that isn't broke, but want to put something in the video, then showing those things would be fine, just to indicate to the buyers that they have been worked with and this is what they know so far.
I look through ads every single day. The ones with 12 minute videos, I don't even bother watching. Just skip right on to the next one.

Yeah I kinda cringe at the long videos that are full of still shots, too. I have two separate two minute videos, and I need some kind of movie editing system to fix the videos I have of us on the pattern so I can upload those. |

This exactly. I refuse to watch all of the extra stuff. It just seems silly to me. I am looking for a horse now and some of the videos are ridiculously long. |

| What i like to see is walk, trot, and canter, stop backup, rollback. The patter, go thru hard as u can and then slow. Dont need to see 10 minutes. I see a lots of things in those adds just make me laugh, like hores that are off in the rear. They will lope one hard thru the barrels horse will ring there tail and not switch there leads in themrear and be on the wrong lead in the rear. Take bad steps. I was considering buying a low end hrse i could fix and just saw that either they where barelyloing barrels anda lot of the less expensive horses where not exeactly right inthe rear maybe kne reason they where not clocking probably. decided to take my horse back to the vet one more time and bot lower hock where fusing had surgery on both everything else check out good ike his suspenories and his front end. Should be good to go,shortly. Happy cause he is well trained and soft sided and light in my hands and hits the ground softly. Fixting him cost less than buying a horse. The funiest video i watched was one that was in a indoor arena it was from a cellphone and the arena was dark, barely see the horse, so the arena was dark and horse was dark all you could see was a horse was a,star going around 3 barrels in a dark barn.

Location: Minnesota | w/t/l in both directions with a good whoa, any other tricks they may know (side passing/pivots/flexing/ect) I do NOT want to watch a LONG video or one that has been edited. To me that seems like you had to cut something out because the horse didn't do what was asked. |

| What really turns me off is poor quality picture in the videos. Some of the videos of exhibitions and actual runs are so bad you wouldn't even have a clue if it was a different horse! Maybe that is the plan with some! |

These things can show alot about a horses personality so if I am REALLY interested I will sit and watch them. |

agree. Put it in separate videos. If I'm interested enough, I want to see everything I can before I spend my time going to look at the horse. And I want to see more than just wtl. I want to see the horse stop, move off the leg, give to the bit etc. I want to know just how BROKE it is, not just that it can go forward when asked. |
