| Just wondering if there is a need for an excellent, full time farrier in Arizona? |

| Yes! There is only a handful of good ones and most of them you can't trust to be on time. Then the others that are great are over booked. There is a lot of bad ones here. |

| What do they normally charge for shoes and trims?? My husband and I were thinking of going to AZ for the winter. Then in the summer he would go back to AZ every 6 weeks until we moved back for the winter. Just brainstorming so we can train year round and get away from the cold and still make a living. He's really busy in the summer here but in the winter it slows down so he has to work in ND and is getting sick of doing that. |

That's great to hear. He's excellent and is very trust worthy to show up. |

| Yes we always need great farriers. Like you have already heard we have tns of hacks and a handful of greats who are hard to get. Most charge in the 60-90 dollar range for shoes and a trim is 30-45. Hope that helps |

| Yes there is a need for excellent farriers .. particularly those that are able to do their jobs without tearing down other farriers AND listen to their clients, problems they may be having and willing to work with vets. Several good ones I won't use because they have bad attitudes and are not reliable.
My only gripe about a winter visitor farrier that was amazing is that I would then be stuck looking for someone when you went back north for the summer!
In the Phoenix metro area … the rate is starts around $85 and up.

| Yeah I would say prices are between 85-200 depending on if it is a regular shoe, hot shoe, or corrective. And trimming is about 40-60. I live in Litchfield park it is pretty close to phoenix. But if your husband doesn't mind traveling like to Scottsdale and the west valley you guys could make some money. Some farriers here are real particular about how far they travel. |

In the Phoenix metro area … the rate is starts around $85 and up. He definitely listens to the client and is more than willing to work with the vets. He has some here that recommend him to their clients with problems and he doesn't cut down other farriers. He will correct their shoeing if need be, but he's not the type to bad mouth them.
If he does decide to go to AZ in the winter and gets a clientele built up he will make sure he comes back in the summer every 5 or 6 weeks until all of his clients are taken care of. Oh ya, and he is VERY reliable.
Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it.

He would definitely be willing to travel as long as he has around $800-$1000 a day worth of work to make it worth his trip. In the summer he has clients in ND, SD and WY. He does really well in the summer but of course, it dries up in the winter.
Thanks for the info and replying. |

Lol, ya Val, you're right. If he wasn't excellent, he wouldn't be shoeing my horses, even though he is my husband. (and he knows it) |
