I'm not a huge fan of it because of the adverse reactions that can occur. Lots of people are given the drug without being told of what can happen when things go wrong. isn't pretty! That's why I would really wait until you can confirm with your vet how much exactly to give. Can't you just give Ace this time until you can get ahold of your vet? I'm confused as to why you would suggest ACE instead of Chlorpromazine when they are in the same family of drugs? Not being condescending just really curious. Personally I am more against running one on ACE because, although similar on the brain, it does affect their motor skills more.
As far as dosages, there are different mg's per ml of this drug dispensed to it's best to check with your vet as to what they gave you and how much to dose. I'm sorry, I'm not one to give drug advice on a forum. Too many variables.
well for 1- Ace is FDA approved for equine use and Chlorpromazine is not. 2- Ace is shorter acting than chlorpromazine so if there is a reaction, it won't last as long My vet also told me it wasn't approved for equines!!! He rattled off a whole bunch of things it could cause, I didn't like any of them, so we don't use it.
previcoxx isn't labeled for equines either- sometimes you need to think beyond the FDA and their financial agenda-
The first time you give one .5 cc's of chlorpromazine and have them fall out while tied to the trailer 5 mins later, you just might want to crawl into that box you just thought outside of. That having been said, I've used it on some with great results. The one who fell out revived and came out of the stupor just fine, but it was pretty scary for about an hour.

All drugs have disastrous possible side effects- all you can do is pray that the worst ones don't happen to you- but minus the disastrous side effects- these drugs do have an intentional purpose- and more times then not, they work favorably.
