Who/how do you insure farm equipment?

Just bought a tractor and our St Farm agent is treating it just like a vehicle. Quote they gave seem high. We don't have a farm operation so no other equipment to cover. I am having a hard time finding an ins rep who will insure just one piece. I am in Texas. Thanks

We used Farm Bureau. But we had lots of equipment and a blanket policy.

We have a farm policy so everything is covered under that. I'll have to ask my buddy as she has a small acreage.

I have my house and vehicles with State Farm...I don't like my agent...I have become aquainted with a Shelter agent who has some cattle and understands agriculture. When I bought my tractor a year ago I went to him for coverage. I pay $90 a year. That's on a $16,000 tractor with loader and brush hog

have house and land through one company and everything else through Farm Bureau. Have a one-off type policy that has the tractor and a zero-turn mower
(tractor valued at $20k and mower at $3500 - premium is about $125 or so annually
)

My backhoe is covered under my homeowners policy. Hoping to get a cheap tractor this summer and it will go there also. I am with Foremost because I am in a Manufactured home. Horse trailer is on my auto policy. It is just a 3 horse slant but a 2011.

Thanks for the replies. Tractor was 48k, St Farm said because of value not covered under homeowners. Their quote was $720 annually. Our smaller tractor is covered under homeowners. I have some calls in to some farm agents.

New Holland put the insurance in with the loan. It was pretty reasonable. I am almost sure that it was about $600 for 5 years. My tractor was around $17,000.

We are in Texas...you might try Germania. We have all of our farm equipment as well as saddles insured through them.

Ours is covered under the home owners insurance and we paid $25K for it, husbands Christmas present. We use Country Financial, they might be local for WA, I'm not sure.
