I've not put the lid on tight and caught a couple of my horses eating it right out of the bucket.  They are total pigs and thankfully I caught them right away.

He passed the alfalfa bales, the gorgeous brome bales, the tub of calf manna, and the open tub of equine senior in the feed room ... to try and open the closed bucket of PP CJ ... He slobbered ALL over that thing and left teeth marks trying to pry the lid!

If you check the top of the equine page their are little tabs for different formulas of platinum equine products. I started out with what you had linked to and didn't have any problems getting them to eat it. I switched to CJ to give extra support to my growing filly and it was cheaper just to go ahead and feed it to my finished mare that I haul a ton. Do you have a picky eater? Sometimes the texture is what throws 'em off .... Also, have you ruled out your horse being sick? My good mare got a "hauling fever" with the drippy nose and little fever etc last summer when we changed climates in an afternoon while hauling and she went off feed completely. Also - how are you giving it? on grain, mixed in with something else, etc? It could be what you are putting it in and not just the PP. Just some food for thought!

I don't feed the CJ, just the regular Wellness product.

She is a relatively picky eater and for the most part doens't like most supplements. But she ate it for the first month or so, which is why it threw me off that she all the sudden stopped eating it. She has no symptoms of being sick, so I don't think that is it but I will keep an eye out for any signs. I'm giving it to her mixed with a grain that she's been fed for the last 3 years.

lindseylou2290 - 2014-04-28 2:04 PM hmmmm do you mix your own grain or buy it? Sometimes large well known feed companies will reformulate a little bit and not need to put it on the bag. For example - the byproduct that they use to keep the pellets together can change and they don't necessarily need to put that change on the label. I guess that'd be where I'd start since PP is super picky about their ingredient labels and guaranteeing what is on the label is what is in the product ... and that she was eating it really well until now. HMMMM picky horses, dang 'em!!

I hear ya on the picky horses part! 

I have my feed mixed by a local co-op and it is a custom mix for me. It's the same mix every time, with the same ingredients. Or at least that is what I am paying for them to do....
