Does anyone have any home remedies for ear infections? I am pretty sure I have an ear infection in my left ear, but I wanted to try some home remedies before going to get antibiotics.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Many earaches are caused by eustation tube dysfunction - it gets 'clogged up' and doesn't work the way it should, leading to ear pain/pressure, and sometimes infection. The middle ear is connected to the nasal/sinus cavities by the eustachion tube, so if you have or very recently had nasal/sinus inflammation/drainage, allergy symptoms, ect, you might try this:

A nasal decongestant spray such as Afrin or Neosynephrine - use it just like it says on the box (spray it in your nose, not your ear)
A nasal steroid spray - Nasacort is over the counter now - Again, use it just like it says on the box.

When I was pregnant with my second I got a horrid ear infection, hurt so incredibly bad, but I didn't want to get meds because I was pregnant. After googling, I ended up wetting paper towel and putting it in the microwave, maybe for 30sec or a minute? And then 'cupping' my ear with it. I also massaged under my ear and along my jawline in a circular motion to try to aide clearing of the fluid. I may have laid on that side also? I can't remember. My ear did finally pop/release after a bit; it felt so. very. much. better and I didn't have to go in. Disclaimer - Do this at your own risk!
I hope you feel better soon!

My husband has terrible ear infections and getting him to go to the dr is like trying to put a cat in a bowl of water. I use ear candles. You can get them at any natural grocery or "hippie" store as he calls it lol. He swears by them and I can usually stop an ear infection before it gets to bad. Also stay on a pain killer don't skip a dose or be late taking it. Also we heated a rice sock type heating pad and held on the ear. However sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and take antibiotics. :( feel better soon!!

i use garlic and muellin oil in my boys ears. You can order it off amazon for around $6 to $10. it lasts awhile. Run the dropper under hot water before you put the drops in your ears and do that 2 to 3 times a day for a week. my oldest had ear infections back to back until i started doing this and haven't had one since. I have tried it on myself and it was very soothing.
