I have been feeding my 12 year old gelding that i use for barrels the omelene 500 feed and then i was told that it was too sugar filled and that Purina Company had been making the omelene out of old grains that farmers had brought in to sell and that it was out dated. does anyone know anyting about this? id love your replies!

I feed the Omolene 500 to my 21 year old gelding. He looks and feels great, and he has been on this feed for the majority of his life. I still run him at least a couple times a week.

most of ours are on pellets but we have two horses on omolene 200 cut with oats. Never had any issues with it.

Doryian if your horse looks and feels good on it why change it. I feed it to the horses I'm running and they are great. Don't believe everything you hear. If it aint broke.....don't fix it.

Mine got hot on sweet feeds, but if yours is doing well I wouldn't fix what isn't broke.
I fed the 200 for a long time and I never had one get sick from it. He was just a little too peppy and needed more fat, so I went to a higher fat feed.
