I'm planning to "re-build" my feed/tack room in the barn. It is 15 X 15 square witha 3 ft. door at the end. I hate the ineffecient use of space. There's always a pile of "something" in the middle of the floor. It holds feed, some tack like halters and lead ropes and extra bits. Then there's other stuff stored in there like maintenance supplies (tool box, horse shoeing stuff, broom, fencing supplies, etc) I'm not good at organizing, so there's got to be  a better way. Give some ideas on how your feed/tack room is layed out. Thanks in advance.

PEG BOARD!!!! It is your friend :) We use peg board to hang tools, bits, headstalls, etc and organize into different categories on a couple walls. Then, another wall is for saddles and the swing out bars for saddle pads and winter blankets. That leaves the last and final wall for feed bins to be stacked. Above the feed bins are two solid shelves that the SO put in for me to place supplements, cans, and random items for feeding - we also have a white wipe board to leave notes, instructions, etc.

Also, the S type metal shower hooks work great to organize bits on the wall that currently are not attached to bridles.

ETA - the items that are used the most are closer to the door - ie - feed is to the left and saddles are to the right for ours :)

everything for me has a sterilite container, rubbermaid tote, or a hook to attach to. I like having a rubbermaid tote for all of my sprays and medical supplies (everything liquid all goes into one place so I always know where its home is and where i can find it.) doing it this way makes loading the trailer easy, and it will always keep a nice and clean finish for anyone coming in to see it. plus they are stack-able and efficient for saving space. my grain also goes in a tote so it's safe from pests and I can toss it right into the trailer when I go somewhere and it goes with the rest of the room. A little cleaning each time you use something is the key to keeping everything organized and good lookin!!

This is how ours is laid out.  There is a brush box all along the left wall.  The first half we use for brushes.....the other is for miscellaneous items like snaps and screws and whatnot.   It's handy because you just throw your brushes In from the opening of the door.  Underneath are some clear tubs and mesh baskets for boots and whatnot.  On the front wall with the sliding door, there's 2 levels of hooks for bridles.  Ours are made out of welded horse shoes.  On the back and right walls are the saddle racks.  The ones on the end are stacked and there's two.
