| Hey everyone! My family is looking into getting my Dad a Brittany puppy in the next year or so to be his retirement present/hunting partner and I am having trouble finding breeders. He loves Brittanys and grew up with them so we really want to get him a good dog that will be a pet and a hunting dog. We live in northern Idaho, but are open to shipping from a reputable breeder. I have found a few people, but would like some more options. Thanks in advance!

Location: ND--it snows, it floods, it snows, it floods | Someone should have some connections on here for you but here's a link for different breeders. I'm trying to remember who a former co-worker got his from and he was a repeat customer. This guy was a hunter and his dogs were alwasy great in the field and as a pet. http://www.scvbc.org/abc_breeders.htm |

| Don't know about a Brittany breeder but if you are open to other types of hunting dogs I highly recommend a German Wirehaired Pointer. We just picked up a pup (and I too am in N. ID.) a week ago. Our first GWP is now 5 years old and he is a superb hunting dog as well as a great family pet. PM me if you would like more info.

Location: Northern CA | Totally agree with the pointers! We inheritated a Brittany last year.... yikes! She now has a home with my FIL. She was into everything and soooo hard headed, although I will admit she is one helluva hunt dog. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | My BFF just got a Brittany pup in March. She was in AZ for the winter and on her drive home she scoured the internet looking for pups for sale. She found some nice ones in OK if I remember right and brought a little girl home. |

| If I were going to get a Brittany, it would be from Ronnie Smith Kennels in OK. His family has been in the bird dog business forever. He is a very respected trainer and nephew of Delmar Smith who is considered by many as the greatest of all time. If he doesn't have a dog, he'll know where to get one.
FYI..... Do not get a dog that doesn't come from known hunting lines. Your dad will be very unhappy. Since brittanys do make nice house dogs, there have been many bench breeders that don't breed for hunting characteristics.

| Get your dad a subscription to Pointing Dog Journal. It has great pictures, articles, training tips and will have classified ads from reputable hunt kennels. |
