Does anyone have a dog that went blind suddenly? Mine is having trouble adjusting, not very mobile or sure of himself and not sure how to help him. He just wants to lay in bed all the time.

We have 2 blind dogs both secondary to diabetes. Both have adjusted very well, though the genius Border Collie was quicker to adapt than the goof ball Rat Terrier. Maybe something else is bothering him? Ours bounced back after we got the diabetes under control.

I have a red Merle Aussie. He's been a little sun blind for a long time but recently got much worse really quickly. He seems ok. We use exclusively verbal commands with him and are sure to talk to him a lot so he can orient to where we are. Our other dog takes good care of him. Stick to a routine, keep everything as predictable as possible and give lots of positive voice commands when you introduce new company.
