What type of saddle pad do you use and how thick? I just ordered me a promax and was wondering what everybody uses.

5 Star and its 3/4 thick. The thickness just depends on how well your saddle fits your horse.

They told me with a promax to not go thinner than 3/4 so I wanted to ask what everybody's preference was. Thx!

I just ordered a pro max today. Charon said to use a quality felt pad like a Todd Sloan or something similar with the pro max

Mine is on order and is the Ultra Rocket. I took my guys to be fitted when they were in College Station. I use a saddle right and they told me to keep using it.

I rode in one of theirs at Bryan also with a saddleright and it fit great. Liked my coats or martin better on my downhill cowhorses since it sits me back further but I would love the saddle on a more running/barrel built horse. Just my opinion.

My saddlerights did not work at all with my caldwell rocket. I used a todd sloane. I know caldwell does or at least used to make some really nice pads as well.

I love the Saddlwright pads, have several. They would not work with my Caldwell on any horse. I use 3/4" 5 star with mine..
