barrelracr131 - 2014-05-21 10:49 AM camino means "I walk"

hahahaha
SOOOOO, El Camino means....the I walk???
Actually, camino is a noun meaning walk, path or road, so el camino means "the walk" or "the path" or "the road". The El in front of it tells you that it's a noun. If the El had an accent on it, then it would me "he" and El (with an accent) camino would be incorrect grammar....it should be El camina, which would mean "He walks". ( idk how to type an accent ).

Now, why did they name a car the El Camino?

Because it means "the road" which is where you'll be in an El Camino. lol

Didn't realize camino could also be a noun (and not just the conjugated form of the verb, caminar)

it means the walk, the road, the journey

I guess they were trying to be poetic..... fail

Sorry. Twenty years of teaching Spanish.
