With God all things are possible

| Let/s refer to 1 Samuel 23 for a moment . King Saul was hunting for David to kill him. The next king was hiding in the wilderness of Ziph, and the Ziphites came to Saul offering their help with the search. Yet God provided shelter for David at the Rock of Escape. Out of this event David gave us today's psalm, the song regarding prayer and God's protection.
How do we respond when enemies come against us? Let us consider all the times David was hunted for or attacked by enemies. He was certainly familiar with relying on God for protection. David gives us a pattern to follow:
1. CALL OUT TO THE LORD Psalm 54: 1-3 SAVE me, O God, by Your name and vindicate me by Your strength. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors have sought after my life; they have not set God before them.
David asked God to save him and hear his prayer, He identified the enemy as strangers and violent men who did not follow God. Wicked people will come against you. Pray for them like Jesus prayed for His killers on the Cross Luke 23-34.
2. REST IN THE LORD. vv 4-7 Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. He will repay my enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth. I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good. For He has delivered me out of all trouble; and my eyes has seen its desire upon my enemies.
David stated that God was his helper. He did not say. God will be my helper, He said, GOD IS MY HELPER. David acknowledged God as his sustainer, gave thanks unto the Lord, and called Him good. David was walking by faith. Proverbs 3:5,6 is a favorite text for many. Read it and REST in Jesus.
I take a deep breath through my nose, let it out of my mouth, to release the stress, and become calm as I imagine the face of Jesus. Life is overwhelming, daily, I ask God to guide me so I won't detour in the path of the devil. The devil is always lurking to kill, steal ,and destroy, our joy, our thoughts. I call out to the Lord, to help me do and say to always bring glory and honor to Him. AMEN
