I would like to hear from people who own a Bison trailer. My daughter is going to college in the fall,
and taking our trailer. So, I need something for just around the house. I hate to spend a lot of money, just to have a trailer to go to the vet and local barrel races, I would hardly ever travel more than a few hours. I want something smaller, so, I am looking at a 3 horse with a 8 or 6 foot shortwall. I keep hearing they are made cheap and don't last. But I want to hear from someone who actually owns one. Please, tell me the good, bad, and the ugly....

Thanks!!

I don't own one but my friend and neighbor who I hauled with did and she liked hers, never had any complaints about it.  It was either an '01 or '02 model Bison Alumasport 4 horse with full LQ. She never had any problems with it and she liked it. Everything still worked on it and looked dang near brand new when she had to sell it. (she only sold it because of a divorce) I want to say it was about 10yr old when she sold it.  I would have bought it from her in a heartbeat but it was just too big for me and my one horse.

Like many people, all I've heard is bad things. When i am around one, they look pretty well made. The LQ's look especially impressive. I'd probably buy a used one. They take a big hit on resale.

We have had ours for 7 yrs now. No complaints. We have had no real problems with it and I LOVE the layout.  We use it for camping as well as the horses and put a quad in the back now and then.  It might not be finished as nice in some ways but sure fits the bill, especially the price tag! I know several people that have them and they are all happy. Customer service is excellent.

Just like many things you get what you pay for...
We own a 2010 and it is cheap made. We have had axle problems, latches on doors and drop windows don't last. Theses are just the big issues we've had many other small problems. Will not consider another one..
I say everytime I hook up I miss my old 98 sundowner :( was lots more trailer for less money and I didn't break something everytime I used it.

Firewater, do y'all use yours a lot, or just locally a few times a month? We will be keeping our other trailer, for sure. I just need something affordable, until my daughter gets out of college. She got scholarships and is on the rodeo team, so school is paid for. We just have to buy another truck and trailer...LOL!

We bought a 3 horse/10' shortwall for $26,000.  Electric jack and awning.  I am thrilled with the trailer.  We didn't want to invest a huge amount of money for something I only use on the weekend.  It pulls great!

I have a 2012 bison stratus LT (8' s/w) - for the money I got what I paid for - no problems with it - I have a little service rust in the rear tack from banging the wall with stirrups but nothing else - sometimes they will put cheap tires on those trailers so get some good quality tires - I had 3 blow outs on mine and then just went ahead and replaced the rest of the tires

I have a 2011. I also had axle problems, like firewater, but they were great about paying to have it fixed, new tires and all. They also asked me to send pictures of the broken axle hanger so they could engineer it better in the future. My LQ  is pretty plain, but it has everything I need, and nothing is falling apart yet! The horse compartment is great, no leaks or anything, solid floor. For the money, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I talked to a sales rep for Bison at one time and he told me that the company use to make really good trailers then they were sold to someone who cut costs on everything and they had a lot of problems with them. I believe this person sold it again and the quality has improved. so depending on what year trailer you buy could be the difference in quality.

I bought a brand new Bison two years ago and it was a nightmare. Beautiful trailer but so many problems. Every weekend that I went out I could count on Monday morning back to the service shop with it . Bought it in February and by June I had it in the shop over 35 times Everything from AC flooding the trailer, to having a fire in the electrical box in the bathroom. I loved all the room in the trailer but the problems where to many to deal with every weekend.
