Location: NE Texas		 Well I have literally about had a heat stroke already this summer riding in my helmet, so am looking for ways to stay somewhat cool under that thing while schooling my young horses.  Has anyone tried the Cool Medics cooling helmet liners?  How about the cooling vests?  Any other tricks?  I have tried the doo rag, but haven't soaked it and frozen it yet.  Maybe that will help?

Location: Oklahoma		I bought a bunch of that stuff the year we had all those hundred degree days about 3 years ago. It could cool me off enough that the dizziness would go away, but the best thing I did was take my LQ trailer and fire up the generator and when I started feeling lightheaded, get in there and cool down and then come back out. I wouldn't recommend the vest, as I bought the blanket for the horse, and it cooled him until his body heat made it warm, and then it made him even hotter as it started retaining heat. It doesn't stay cool for very long, and so you have to take it off and re-cool it (put it in ice water again) or it will start retaining heat. I wasn't too impressed with their stuff personally. I felt it was a waste of money.

Location: NE Texas		That is EXACTLY the info I needed, thank you.  I guess it's one of those "if it's too good to be true" situations.  I'm not hauling anything yet, so it's no problem to go inside for a minute if needed, but when tuning these young horses, it's hard to quit in the middle to go in and cool off.  LOL   Guess i'll have to just go sit under the shade tree more frequently.
