Thinking of purchasing a saddle off the floor at Teskey's. However, I am wondering how well these saddles fit a horse verses getting one made just because of pricing.

My Question: What are your opinions of a saddle off the Floor made by Teskey's? How well do they hold up and how comfortable for the horse are they verses having them make one?

I have had two of their roping saddles, and have really liked them. They seem to be built well, and these two saddles fit horses really well. I didn't have any complaints!

Thanks for commenting! Did you have them make it specifically for your horses or did you just buy them off the floor?

I have two, I have a barrel saddle that is 8 years old that was custom made and it has held up well and I like it... I wish it had a deeper seat though. But I think that is my problem not the saddles.
And my SO rides a rope saddle that was off the floor. He likes it but I can't ride in it, it seems to want to throw me forward and I think the stirrups should be hung more forward. But also its a rope saddle and he loves it. So it might just be that he's 6'3 and I'm 5'3 and it just doesn't fit me right.
As far as the quality for the price range that they are in I think they are best best quality you will fine other them spending way more money.

I LOVE mine. I bought it brand new off the floor nine years ago. Its been my main saddle to run and exercise in, so has see a ton of miles. Other than the raw hide on the horn starting to come off after a really really wet rodeo, it is in perfect shape. I think I had the have a fender repaired once when the hole ripped a little. Other than that, perfect. Looks pretty much new. With the exception of one really small pony, and one REALLy fat mare, I haven't had any horses that it didn't fit well on (and I've had it on a lot).

I do not have one, but I've talked to a lady that had a custom one done and she loves it.

I've had off the shelf and custom saddles by Teskeys. I think the custom one is the better deal. You can order it just the way you want for the same and sometimes less money than what is on the floor. They seem to be good saddles and I have no complaints. We've had 4 of them and I think they are a great value for the money.

I have a custom. LOVE it. Mostly I like the way it sits me - I wasn't planning on buying a custom saddle but sat in a friends to try out her new horse. After I stepped off I realized I never once thought about the saddle, my seat, or leg position - it just doesn't get in the way and seats me the way it's supposed to. On my way home I called and asked about ordering.

I have FQH bars, it fits my 15h halter bred mare just as nice as it does my 16h First Down Dash 3 yo.

Plus, it's pretty. Lol!

They're so pretty. Saw one at a race recently and I was curious about how they hold up. Thanks for the replies everyone!

I bought a barrel saddle at NFR back in '96, still have it, love it never had to break it in.   Then a few years later had a custom one with purple ostrich seat and bling conchos....  like that one too but I did have to break it in.  Ended up selling that one a few ago to purchase another Teskeys.   I never had a problem with either one, workmanship was good and the '96 has helded up great.

I have a custom one and I sware by it. It's a team roping saddle but I can do literally anything and everything in it, including barrel racing, despite the weight. My friend got a ranch cutter off the floor and absolutely loved it too. Another friend who is a pro barrel racer has custom ones made and loves them. I've ridden in them and I love them as well. Mine has held up extremely well and I couldn't be happier. Custom building one is comparable price-wise and then you can get exactly what you want!!
