 Location: Texas | Hello everyone,
It's a rainy day here in East Texas so I'm stuck inside doing house chores and doing research on equine business stuff. I am 23 years old and trying to get my foot in the equine industry world. My long term goal is to have my own horse business, boarding, training, giving lessons, also rodeoing, and teaching people of all ages what it takes to take care of a horse from the ground up. Right now that's not possible but I was thinking maybe I could travel around my county and surrounding counties and offer services such as riding horses the owner might not have time for, give riding lessons on their own horse, teach a new horse owner how to work and take care of their horse, give advice on nutrition, training and medical and even feed and clean stalls or help around their farm/ranch. Do y'all think a traveling trainer is a good idea and is something that would make me some money or a waste of time? Also I can't afford liability insurance right this second so I was thinking I could get a waiver wrote up that explains everything. Is that a good idea? And where should I go to get that done?
Thank y'all for all the insight and all comments are welcome!!
Thank y'all |

Location: Deep South | For myself personally, I would not depend on it as my sole source of income.
I went to school, got myself a steady 9-5, and I train a few outside horses on the side for extra money and because it's something I enjoy doing.
And I'm 21, if that matters. |

| Let me give you a couple of suggestions. There is a person in our area that baby sits pets. She goes to peoples homes and walks the dogs etc at lunch so that they are not kept inside all day. She charges a small mileage and a set fee. She does this everyday while the people are at work. This has really taken off here. If these people go out of town they then have someone they can trust to take care of their pets and so not have to board them.
I cannot go out of town because there is no one that I trust to feed my horses. I am sure that there are guys that go to ropings that would love to have someone feed for them that was reliable. irls that go to barrel races or youth rodeos that have the same need. |

| I would LOVE to have someone reliable to come feed, check on horses and dogs and yard, clean, etc when I need to leave town.
That said, I won't enlist the services of any trainer without a winning record to point to. If you advertise, be sure to list what you've won or what you've trained that went on to win specifically. |
