| Do you find it to keep weight in a working / running horse , or is it too low in calories & fat ? Just thought about putting by really hard keeper mare on it , but I worry it won't be enough . Any thoughts ? |

| If your mare can eat hay it will NOT be enough it's a complete feed that is ment to be fed in large quantities alone with no hay. Purina does hAve ACTIVE senior that is next to ultimate in calories and if your mare still eats hay it is VERY good for hard keepers. I have a mare I'm working extremely hard right now that came to me needing muscle and weight. She is gaining weight and muscle while under heavy training. Enough so people that seen her a week prior are very impressed I have had her in training 1 month and she is night and day.

Location: Where its cold and hot | I switched my 21 year old gelding to Purina Senior (red/white bag) last fall. He became a harder keeper after having colic surgery in 2013 and just wasn't his normal self. Teeth are up to date every year, good worming program, he was on Purina Ultium. I treated him for ulcers and I also put him on a straight alfalfa hay. He was getting 6lbs of the senior daily and he bloomed over the winter. I just cut him down to 3lbs daily cause he is rather plump now. |

| Thanks guys ! I was thinking about the senior active .. I have had her on ultium in the past but it didn't really give me results for what I was paying for it :( I like the sounds of the active .. I just hope it works . I don't want to make a decision until I'm confident it will work .. But she's do finicky it's hard to say |

| I'll see if I can post a picture of my mare she is more appendix looking even though she is not. I really didn't like the way she looked when I first brought her home so I don't have a before. She is on free choice quality brome, purina equine active senior, purina amplify nugget 2 cups a day and forco

She does look good !! I thought about adding the amplify to my mare as well ... I think she'd eat that . I wish the pellet in the active was cooked like it is in the regular senior . Maybe I should give it a try though .. She is built similar to your mare . She just needs to fill out like yours :) |

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | I feed 1lb daily to each of my horses with their Renew Gold - in all honesty i did it because i wanted something roughage based that had just a little molasses to make their supplements stick to their feed - I also liked that it is balanced - but my horses love it and they all look great - no doubt in part to the Renew gold - but I am happy w/the choice of senior for this as a lot of feeds are not what they say they are - and i dont want to dump garbage into them - purina senior is high in lysine but also i like the amplify - my horses aren't getting a lot of it but between it and the Renew Gold - they are all hanging their heads out their stalls nickering at feeding time - and licking their buckets clean so win win supplements in! LOL..
( my horses also get alfalfa twice a day and free choice coastal hay). |

| i feed all my horses senior , some ill mix with other feed but i personally love it. keeps weight and they have great energy. i do supplements and they stay turned out 6am- late evening but overall it works great for me. |

Location: Oregon | I have fed my gelding Purina Senior for about 10+ years and he is now 25 and gets the senior as well as a flake or so of hay am and pm, and is now being introduced to this years pasture. He can be a worry wart and nervous type and also had kidney issues in the past and both of those were a real challenge to keep weight on. He’s doing so well and has not lost weight and eats up his grain and although I hear so much about Renew Gold and would love to try that, I’m super hesitant about making any changes that might rock the boat. I’m sort of a – if it’s not broke, don’t fix it – type of person. |

Oh thank you !! It has beet pulp shreds in it ? I know it used to look like strategy healthy edge. I do not know what it looks like now ? |

How long has she been on it now ? Are you seeing any results ? |
