| Hi, I have a 9 yr. old Quarter Horse gelding that I am having trouble finding a saddle for. He is built more on the Thoroughbred side. I currently have an Alamo Saddlery saddle an yes, I know they are not the best that's why I'm looking for a new one. I have seen that Martha Josey saddles have a higher up front and I like that. I need something that will not sit on his withers which is what my Alamo does. I have been using a shim but it seems to make him uncomfortable. Please post some brands, pics, or whatever other advice you have! Thanks:) |

| If you can't get pics up that's ok. Just wanted to see what you ordered and how it sat on your horse. I am hoping their saddle wlll fit my high withered boy without having to order anything special. I ordered the semi qh as that was suggested by the company. He said it would fit most horses with just a pad adjustment. |

Location: North Dakota | I would suggest a Crates Meleta Brown. She's got great wither clearance on her saddles. |

Location: USA | Bump, my OTT QH mare has high withers and when I ride her in my Dakota Barrel Saddle it pinches her and she won't listen, turn or stop and the tree I think is 3/4 quarters bars but it's wide. It also leaves dry marks behind her shoulder blades. But when I ride her in my Roper she has no problem. |

Location: USA | I understand your frustration! I have a very high withered gelding. Although he is registerd QH, he has a lot of thoroughbred and looks like a TB. He's got the big shoulders. I've only found two saddles to fit him and I've tried several, with different pads, girths, etc.... The only two I have found to fit or a H3 with a twisted tree and a Mike Green Balance Ride.
ETA: If your horse has the indentions behind the shoulder, have you tried the bio fit pad? That is what I used until I could get a better fitting saddle.
