I'm looking for suggestions on the cheapest cell phones. I do NOT need internet, so I do not want a "smart phone". All I do is talk and text.

I have a prepaid phone from US Cellular. Love it. I have unlimited text and talk. The phone I purchased is a Samsung Blackberry. It was like $27. The plan is $30 a month. There is a little bit of data with it but I never use it. I purchased the phone at Wal Mart. Some Wal Mart's do not carry them.

Best thing I ever did. Changed my bill from $70 a month to $30 a month.

I purchased a prepaid phone card for my son through my cell company..it costs me $20 for 200 minutes, he can talk or text and the minutes are good for up to 3 months, he uses that many in about 2 months...the phone was just an old smart phone that we had....hard to change to a bigger plan when this is so much cheaper.

I have a LG phone and go through VirginMobileUSA.
I pay $25 a month for 5 hours of talk and unlimited texting and data.  I don't think I've ever used the entire 5 hrs, but I dont talk alot.  I do text alot.  You can go $35 a month for more hrs, tho.

Thank you for all the replies. I find asking a question on here gets me more practical REAL answers than doing a search on line that brings up tons of advertising. You all hit the mark on what I am looking for in a cheaper phone.

My kids and I have all switched to Straighttalk.  My hubby is the last one on AT&T and he's the next one we'll switch.  He hardly turns his phone on since he has a company phone he uses.  He only talks, no texting or internet for him.  LOL

Is that the type of phone you buy a certain amount of minutes for?  My husband never uses his phone except for a couple times a year so even the unlimited month at Straighttalk would be a waste.  I wondered about the Trac phones.  Say you buy 60 minutes is there a time limit to use that?

Yeah.. It's prepaid minutes... I paid the extra for double minutes as well.. You do have a certain in amount of time but that rolls over every time you buy time... So my time limit runs out of about 10 years..

That sounds like just the phone my husband needs.  I'll check it out when I'm in town next.  If I can keep the number he has now would be best but I'll find out all the info.  Thanks a bunch.

I've had to replace my phone a few times because of damage... I was always able to keep the same number..

Boys use straight talk and have a few issues with disconnects but for the most part they do ok. Without internet I think is less than 30
