I was under the impression that the PrimeGlo was for easy keepers. Is this not so?

Glad that I read that right. I have two that keep, shall we say, very, very healthy I think on air. I was feeding the ADM Patriot and was told to switch to the ADM PrimeGlo and the Grostrong Minerals.

Thanks for the information on pricing. Currently, I go through 24 bags of Healthy Edge a month and that is feeding 9 horses. The 2 oldies get Safechoice Senior. I pay 15.95 for the Healthy Edge and use that because the feed store is a mile from work. I also add in rice bran (to the oldies and a hard keeper), beet pulp (to all horses), soaked alfalfa cubes for the oldies, plus weight gain on the oldies and hard keeper. Then the others have different supplements. The oldies get joint supplement, I have two on ulcer meds, plus all the horses get coastal and alfalfa. I'm not really concerned about the difference in price. I just feel like I'm feeding a lot of feed and extras and they just aren't looking like I want.
I could go with TC because the Coop is the next town over and I am there at least once a week. I had my heart set on the ADM...

I feed Triple Crown Complete to my running horse. He gets 6lbs a day. He's not exactly an easy keeper, but he's not hard either. Kind of in the middle. LOL I prefer them fat anyways. He gets THE Muscle Mass with some add ons and that's it. It's 12% fat and high in fiber too, so no need for the addition stuff like rice bran and beet pulp. Both the Senior and Complete are beet pulp based.

Triple Crown has a ration balancer (Triple Crown 30% Supplement) you can try for the easy keepers. It's made for horses on free choice pasture &/or hay. It just supplements their forage. I've fed just that to a bigger mare we have and she stayed fat on it. It's great for the super easy keeper, but not every horse is cut out for it. It's good if you're only feeding less than the minimum of your usual feed. It gives them all the vitamins minerals protein and other goodies in a concentrated dose.

I currently feed the ADM - Patriot 14/8 pellet is run 13.75 a bag, I was feeding the senior to my old man (32) but he turned his nose up at it to eat the 14/8 so I just quit buying the Senior ( 16.75) and started him on the 14/8
I do add the loose minerals to the feed.

I love the way ADM has my horses looking... I won't be changing my feed any time soon....

If you are only feeding 2# of SeniorGlo with nothing else, then you need to add extra minerals...this is directly from the ADM rep when I inquired about the smallest amount I could feed my horses and this is their response:
"If I fed only 3 lbs of the SENIORGLO I would make sure that I also top dress about 1 oz. of GROSTRONG mineral or provided it Free Choice to the horses. If Your horses only need about 3 lbs of SENIORGLO I would suggest you feed PRIMEGLO which is the same formula as SENIORGLO only we put 2 time the amount of vitamins and minerals and digestive aids so it can be fed at the lower feeding rate of 2-4 lbs and you will be getting the need vitamins and mineral into the horse without having to top dress extra."
Just thought I'd pass that along

The responses are so informative. I guess I will look into the Triple Crown feed now since the ADM seems to be slipping from my grasp. haha!

It is for a 700ish# pony-the Sr GLO. I am also giving it to my 21 yr old when he is in the corral and not out in pasture. The latter is a super easy keeper and he just gets grain so he doesn't look so sad while the others eat. Both get free choice GREAT quality grass hay thanks to all this rain. They also have 12:12 mineral and Redmonds salt free choice. I think they are covered, but I agree they would need more than 2# if that was all they were getting.

The pony gets his in beet and alfalfa pellets soaked due to loose teeth.
