I wonder what would the standings would look like if they had to be limited to # entered and had equal payouts. |

I wonder what would the standings would look like if they had to be limited to # entered and had equal payouts. Only 100 rodeos count towards standings. So everyone is limited to that. But equal payouts would be a wreck: the smaller rodeos can't compete with the bigger ones as far as payouts go, which would hurt in the circuits. And then if you limited the bigger rodeos, you'd take away their appeal. I applaud the gals that are killing it well enough to go to only a few rodeos and stay high in the standings. "Evening things out" would only wear the horses out needlessly.
Never thought of it that way! Guess that just makes the NFR much more interesting to watch and see the standings change! |

Yeah I wonder how much it has to do with knowing the grounds and really good planning. Do those who attend very few just know where their horses work best and maybe haul farther to fewer but more worth while. Different strokes for different folks |

Excellent planning and WINNING. It doesn't matter how much money is added if you and your horse can't win any of it. Lol. |

I really can't see how a horse can stand up to that much, but I guess that's what makes them a rodeo horse.
How many do they typically hit in a week/weekend? Do they start in October? |

| Can they enter more than 100? If so, do the first 100 count or can they pick the ones that count? |

I BELIEVE it is just the first 100 (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). You can enter more than 100, but they won't count for standings and golly that'd be a lot of wear and tear on you, your horse, and your rig. Just hitting 100 rodeos in a season would mean you were averaging 1.9 rodeos per week. The fewer rodeos you go to, the better. Like Lisa Lockhart right now is sitting #1 with 21 rodeos(?), more power to her. She's doing well enough she can pick and choose where/when she runs without having to hit every available rodeo (of course, if she's going to try for the world she won't be able to gear down). But say she decides not to try for the title, she could potentially choose to have a pretty low key fall and still handily make the finals. |
