What have you all found to help your horses with fly bite hypersensitivities? Any feed through supplements, meds (other than the standard dex), shampoos, topicals??

I have a gelding that I raised, he's five now, and two years ago he developed a hypersensitivity to fly bites. He was a mess for two summers, I tried everything including dex/cortisone shots. He had huge sores from the flies, he ripped every fly sheet to shreds itching. It was a nightmare until his trainer put Bayer cattle fly tags in his mane and tail! We started this summer with the flies devouring him but she immediately put 2 in his mane and one in his tail and he has not a single bite on him and the flies are awful on the other horses.

What color are the tags?  I think Bayer has blue, light blue and orange.  I am very interested in this, thanks!

She used the blue Bayer tags on him. I don't know if there was a reason she chose the blue vs other colors or if that's what her feed store had. It has been a life saver. My poor guy was so miserable last year, his legs and shoulders were rubbed literally raw, his legs were scabbed over bloody messes. It was horrible! He has two spots on his shoulders this year and that was from before the fly tags. The rest of his body is totally perfect.

I have one that is super sensitive as well.  Looked online for Bayer Cattle Fly tags and come up with 2.  Corathon and then there was a Cylence Ultra Insecticide tag.  Any idea on which one was used on your horse?  I am definitely going to give it a try.  Thanks

I believe it's the Cylence Ultra but in looking this up for you I see that Python made by YTex offers even more protection!

Thanks.  Guess I'll pick one to try and see how it works.

The flies were eating our horses up.  We were spraying morning and night after feeding them.  I was told to add a teaspoon of granulated garlic to their feed and could not imagine the difference it has made.
