| If you have a Suburban 2500 how do you like it? What year is it? How many miles are on it? What kind of gas mileage do you get pulling and not pulling? What kind of rig do you pull? If you pull with an SUV what kind? And what are you pulling? I have a 2012 Ford Expedition EL and right now pull a 2 horse slant Steele bumper pull. I want to get a 3 horse all aluminum slant load bumper pull but trying to figure out what would be best. I have access to 3/4 ton truck if I was going out of town or something like that. Where I live it is safe to say it's flat land and not going to encounter any major hills. Thanks |

| I have an '08 Expedition EL. 132k miles. I haul up and down CA, Tehachapis, Pacheco Pass, Grapevine, no problem. I do have heavy duty trailer brakes installed though. My gas mileage sucks, I try not to look lol! 17 without trailer, probably 10 with. I pull a two horse slant (non aluminum) enclosed with a dressing room.
Hubby wants to buy a truck and trade in our SUV... I don't want to! It's SO comfortable and rides so nice. Plus it fits all four kids and all our stuff. |

| I have a 1997 Expedition with 126,000 miles that I pull a 2 horse aluminum slant with. My parents bought both new in 97 and 98, so they've been together a long time! I get about 15 mpg with no trailer, maybe 9-10 with. Whenever we decide to upgrade, I will probably get another SUV unless we decide to upgrade our trailer too.
I don't think my Expedition could handle a 3 horse steel trailer, but it is a lot older than yours! It does handle a two horse aluminum really well though. |

I want to go with an all aluminum three horse slant. I agree don't think it could handle the Steele. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | For years, my parents pulled a 4 horse steel trailer, 7.5' wide slant with tack room, with various 3/4 ton SUVs. I think the empty weight was around 6500 pounds. |

Location: PNW | I have used my 2013 Toyota Sequoia to haul an all aluminum 3 horse TOTALLY loaded to the gills with horses, feed, and what not. Drove 300 miles and over one pretty hefty mountain pass - handled it like a charm. The only time I could tell I was pulling was going up the pass. My SUV has a tow-mode though that helps the transmission to shift at more appropriate times (will down shift going both uphill and downhill much sooner than normal), I also have the option of putting it into "manual" mode - which helps a lot. I don't like pulling with an automatic, but I was sure impressed by my Sequoia. |

Mine is steel. No problemo. But it's a two, not three horse.

I can officially respond to this! Lol! I just bought my first trailer today and pulled for the first time ever! :D
I have a 93 chevy 2500 suburban. I love it. It has 116k miles. I put $40 in and it goes a little over half a tank. I'm not sure the mileage... Probably decent I drove 30-45 minutes away today and back and still went to work. I'm pretty close to empty though so I'll need to put in another $40 tomorrow.
Usually, it lasts me a week of just going to the ranch and just going to work lol. I generally try to drive ONLY my car to most places and my suburban will only be used for going to the ranch (the dirt roads took out my power steering in my car so its been in the shop! I get it back next week) and for hauling. So I'll stop spending so much on gas.
My 2 horse weighs I think 1600? I can't remember what it said. My horse weighs about 1000.
Anyways, I drove it up a mountain, down a mountain, on the freeway, in the city and I could barely tell it was behind me except for when I was braking. I could tell a little bit then. But overall, I was shocked at how easy it was.
I love my SUV. :D Although. I'd lie to you if I told you that as soon as I can I 'wont 'get a dodge ram diesel :P That is definitely happening after I get married and am not paying so much freaking money on a wedding every month! |

| I pull my 2 horse aluminum with a 2010 Tahoe (1500). I must admit the first time I tried it (about a month ago) I was a bit skeptical because I am used to pulling with my husbands Dodge Dually. It sure didnt pull like the 3500, but who could expect it to. The Tahoe pulled fine, I am just still getting used to it as apposed to the other truck. Its not near as strong but does fine. I have a couple friends who pull similar trailers with Suburbans ect. I am not sure exactly what kind of fuel mileage I was getting, but it sure did run out a lot quicker than normal lol.
