Anyone else feel like they are just spinning their wheels and getting nowhere fast?
I feel like I should be farther along in my life by now. Im young and have a decent paying job, but to live in a halfway safe neighborhood I pay out the wazhoo and can't save much money per month. I feel like at this point in my life I should be buying a home or something. I question if I am in the right place or not all the time, but I know if I move back closer to home I will end up single for life haha.
I guess this was just a big whining vent and I need to just pray and let God take control, but I have such a hard time letting go and not trying to micromanage and plan life!
If anyone else feels this way

Everyone goes at their own pace! Sometimes you have to do things you don't like in order to get ahead. And if you need to move back to mom and dads for awhile to bank some cash or move into a cheaper place in order to prepare for buying a home or whatever. Go for it! And there is no time limit on when you should be married, or buying your first home, or having kids. It's all up to you! I was in the same spot until 3 years ago and I landed my recruiting job, made the tough decision and moved away from people that were bringing me down and not pushing me to be better. I finally got out of the ditch I seemed to be stuck in! Good Luck to you!

I think it's normal to want to be further and/or more successful. But it will all happen in Gods time. I'm a stay at home mama. Hubby has an awesome job. But we're still renting. We still have debt. We still wish we could be further. I wish we could buy a home. But we have to pay off our debt to do it. Baby steps.

I was the same until I read about "Pay yourself first." We get in the habit of paying our bills, buying the things we want/need and if there's anything left, put it savings. There's never anything left.

Make yourself and your savings a priority and a bill. Pick an amount that is to come out of your paychecks immediately and send it to your savings. You are your first bill. Even if it's only $25 or $50 to start with. And send it to a savings account that is inaccessible to you. Also, dedicate a % of any windfalls to your savings. Any money you receive that you were not counting on. Tell yourself 50% will go to savings. Had a bonus at work? 50% to savings. Birthday money from Grandma? 50% to savings. Won $60 at a barrel race? 50% to savings.

It adds up faster than you think when you set a plan in place.

Also, set yourself a GOAL. If you want to buy a house, figure out how much you want to spend and then set the goal to save 30% of that amount.

Good luck!

Thank you for the encouragement everyone!
I have been trying to pay myself first as well, my check is direct deposited and 40 each pay period is being put into a savings account from that. I'm just one of those impatient people that want things done immediately. I know that isn't how life works though.
It just seems almost impossible to be single and be able to afford to barrel race and have a home and pay all the other bills that seem to come and go in life. I do get frustrated but I'm sure we all do at one point.
Thanks for listening to me whine!

I have learned not to compare my success and failures to others. It seems as though people really "fluff up" their lives on social media, so we think are behind people, but in reality, they are probably miserable.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I have a good job, I can cover my bills but felt like I was making no traction.

DAVE RAMSEY. Seriously, commit to his Financial Peace program and watch yourself change and make progress. For real. My fiance and I went through it in January. It has changed our whole lives for the better, but you have to commit or else it doesn't work.

You can do it! Good Luck!

I LOVE your avatar...so cute!

Set small reachable goals and don't rush your life....have fun and always be looking for a better place to move that might be cheaper....

I buy rent houses and I can tell you that a home is NOT an asset unless it creates income for you like a rent house can....you are actually better off learning about real estate and positive cash flow from buying rent houses at good prices and building a portfolio where you can retire in 5-10 years on the cash flow....use your borrowing power for that to start with, where you are creating income....it can be done where you will be able to afford whatever place you want.....check out the REIA clubs in your area...I belong to the OKC REIA and I attend the meetings and classes, and what I've learned over the years is that the map to success doesn't include slaving at a job your whole life and trying to retire on whatever you have saved.....the right map is creating cash flow a little along one house at a time until you reach an amount where you can retire young and do what you love....the key is learning how from the right people....the right neighborhood at the right price....good luck, whatever you do...

Thanks Cindy!

I am definitely on the lookout for cheaper rental places right now. My lease is up in October so I will definitely be moving then!
I am going to send you a PM.
