Location: Lost in the corn of Iowa. | I know another trailer thread. Sorry. I'm in a pickle. I have been shopping for trailers for a few months and yesterday I asked about roomy LQ in trailers. I have been putting a deal together. But here's my pickle, I'm not wanting to make the wrong decision. I have 2 trailers bought, both brand new and identical in features when compared side by side....except...one is an Exiss with extruded sides and an electric jack, the other is a Kiefer Built with smooth sides and manual jack. That is the only 2 differences. They are exactly the same price. Now here's the kicker. The Exiss I could buy this weekend if I like the way it's put together and drive to MN, the Kiefer Built I'd have to drive to IN and wait 3 weeks for it to be built at the factory. What would your opinions be in this situation. Thanks in advance :) |

Location: Lost in the corn of Iowa. | Thanks, I've had a Kiefer Built before so I know they are decent mid level trailers. I have never had an Exiss so I was curious on the good and bad on them. I know to check welds and the conversion package to see who made it. I'm just not wanting to shoot myself in the foot. My last trailer I just sold was 15 yr of KB and the roof started leaking...BAD. But at 15 yrs old, I almost expect that to an extent. |

Location: Oklahoma | The quality of Exiss now is NOT what it used to be. I've seen nothing but problems with them. I work for a trailer manufacturer and I've seen how many are built. I know welders who have worked for Universal Trailers (exiss/sooner) and they have all said the same... even they wouldn't pull one. |

Location: Central Texas | A few months ago I was shopping and shopping and liked the price of the Exiss, but there were too many spots on all the trailers I looked at that seemed to be cheap and/or injury threatening both for the horses and people. I ended up buying a used Elite and love it. Good luck! |

Location: Buffalo, TX | They are both entry level trailers....the Kiefer is not a mid level trailer....we've had many of both Exiss and Kiefer's in our shop with major construction problems, so pick the one with the most options on it for your money.... |

Location: SW New Mexico | I bought my 2003 4 Star 9' LQ with a 400 onan...as a upgrade from my 1995 Sooner weekender
I absolutely love it..
the trade off was the 4 Star had no cooktop, no electric jack.. which was on my upgrade list... BUT!!!!
Easy fix.. I use a meal maker grill, and had a electric jack put on it, at a very reasonable cost here.

| I would take a Kiefer over and Exiss any day. I would take just about anything over a Exiss. JMO |

My goal is to keep moving up. And on a new entry level trailer is how this works in my financial plan. The goal is to keep enough value in the trailer to increase our trade in amount. But I do understand what you guys are saying about the 4 star or something of that quality. Thank you. |

Did you work with Lisa, who now works for Outback Customs?.....I deal with her almost daily...she's very nice...
I'm a Platinum dealer, but for those that can't afford a new high end trailer, I always steer them to older 4-Stars for the quality...
