Any ideas for swelling?

My sorrel gelding us currently being treated for an eye ulcer, via SPL, a little port that runs to his eye. Because if that his turn out is limited, he has to stal stalled and can only get out in a small set of panels we've set up for him.
Well he spooked at something and double barreled, lodging both his back legs in the panel. Thank god they were portable because they fell instead of breaking his legs. He's all skinned up and soar but nothing borked or anything like that. He has swelling through his legs, which I expected... Any ideas on how to keep him from getting still and to ease the swelling? His exercise is limited due to the eye injury

Cold hose his legs, apply some sore no more poultice. You could also wrap his legs. I prefer BOT quickwraps.
I also have a mare that has a catheter going to her eye due to an ulcer....we are on one month of treatment and we just had a checkup today and it looks like another month of treatment.

Agree on the cold hose and poultice and treating the skinned spots and cuts, but hold off on the BOT
(heat
) therapy for a day or two since he can't move around much.

Get some Vetrycin for the skinned spots and spray. It really speeds the healing. If there is heat in the legs always ice first then after heat is gone you can use the BOT wraps.

a day or two of Bute would probably help get him over the hump of the initial swelling.
