I am coming up on the one year anniversary of the death of my best friend. The saying that time will heal must mean more than a year because I hurt as bad today as I did the day she passed. She was such an awesome person to me. She had lots of faults by so do I and she truly made me feel like she didn't care about a single one of them. I LOVED every one of hers. She was a school teacher like me and had such a love for every single child she came in contact with. I know she died because God needed another teacher but I really needed her to stay around a little longer. I can still hear her call my name when I get upset about something. Ok when I get mad. She had a way of controlling my temper that no one else has ever had. I do feel very lucky to have had a best friend I know lots of people don't get to experience that.

Ok I am much better just needed to tell someone I hope this is not to personal if so just delete me. Thanks

Hugs. When we lost my neice to a brain tumor I liked what our pastor said.   The love we have for the ones we lose makes it so hard but that same love also means we have great memories to cherish and those get us through the most difficult days.

She sounds like she was a very "special" friend.....I don't think we ever get over the loss of a family member or friend but we tend to remember more of their good points and the special moments that we shared with them......Hugs!

Hugs to you. Losing them doesn't mean you forget them or that you don't hurt. There is a quote that says don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

In my experience (18 yrs of it).  Time doesn't heal the pain, we simply learn to go on without them.  As the time passes the significant days have seemed that much harder.  I find comfort in knowing what a wonderful place my lost loved ones are in and that I WILL see them again, not today, or tomorrow, but someday and lastly treasure the memories, they will last forever!!

I am really so sorry you are hurting. Loss is one of the hardest things to deal with, especially when it is someone that means so much to you. When I miss someone, I try to think about how they would not want me to be upset over them, but it really is hard.

I am so sorry and know the feeling of loosing someone who is close to you. Cherish the good memories and know that the pain doesn't really ever go away but we learn how to deal with it. God has a plan and we are only part of it ... He will take care of you.

My mom and I still go on a trip once a year to honor my Grandmother's memory and how much she meant to both of us.

I will keep you in my prayers.

My heart goes out to you.  Sometimes those close to us who have passed continue to live on, in that when we are confronted with a difficult decision, or if something remarkable has happened, we wonder to ourselves what would ________ do?  In that sense, they live on and act as our consicience or role model.  I hope this makes sense.

I feel your pain.... I had a fishing buddy.... We floated a lot of rivers in Missouri.... Along the way we set some goals.... The 1st one we accomplished... Over the course of 3 years we floated and fished the entire floatable length of the Big Piney River in Missouri... we'd go out for 5-7 days at a time/ once a year.. We both popped the tabs on a beer when we hit the end and drifted onto the Gasconade river... Then we set a new goal... The Gasconade!!! The longest river completely inside the state!!! Yeah!!! We could do this!!!
This was before the internet so I had to research everything the old way.... It starts just above Hartville Not far from where MRL lives now.... It meanders for 50 miles before it becomes floatable... we put in at the Manis Bridge.... and floated almost down to I44 before a rain storm upriver produced a flood so bad we had to pull out in a big hay field... I noticed Scott (my buddy) had a pretty bad cough that last day.... 5 weeks later he was dead from lung cancer... I never did finish that river... I always regret it...
