Day trips, what to feed?

I like many of you take a day trip. I leave 6:00 am, and return at 9:00 pm. Sometimes later. I have been taking a couple of flakes of my normal hay, and just tying it to the side of the trailer. I'd like to start bringing the chopped hay, in a bag, or maybe even pelleted hay. Ease of transport of the hay is my reason. Any reason I shouldn't feed either?

I try to feed what I normally feed, and I try to keep hay in front of mine the whole time if possible.

If they're not used to getting a feed at home, I wouldn't feed it on the road either.

Us too. Although with a kiddo nowdays we avoid day trips like you mentioned but we just take enough hay for breakfast and dinner and then more for at the trailer. If we are feeding dinner gone too we bring normal grain as well. I wouldn't feed something at a race that you don't normally feed at home.
