Location: Martin,Tennessee | Hello everyone. Question for everyone. Whats the good and bad of Skipper W. It is four generations back but still. I know that stud and he seems really nice and quiet. Also he seems put together nice. Also Skipper W is on his dams side. Thanks in advance. He also goes back to Doc Bar on his sire's side. |

Location: Kansas | we had one gelding with SW breeding he made a heel horse but never had the speed to be real competitive. definitely no barrel horse. But he was quiet and easy to handle. A good looker too.
I added a photo I found. He was line bred SW on top and Pacific Bailey on the bottom.

| I had a really nice Skipper W bred mare (line bred on the bottom) Speed bred on top...She was fast, handy, beautiful and the tryingest little bugger. Filled my permit on her and won quite a bit. She was pretty rank until her older years. I love Skipper W bred but they arent for the faint of heart (in general, there are always exceptions) Jody Sheffield's horse is Skipper W bred and so is Kelli Tolbert's |

| I currently run a skipper w mare. She goes back top and bottom. I personally like 'em - some people don't.
They make nice horses but are not for the faint of heart. As long as you are firm and kind with them they are wonderful and the hardest trying little boogers! I think with the right SW lines you'll be just fine!
ETA - she is in my avatar. And my nephew reminded me that she did take care of him all last summer while he learned to rope. :)

Location: Martin,Tennessee | Thank you everyone for the comments. He is at this barn where i board at. He seems very nice and acts like a gelding. Very quiet. Am not looking for a 1d barrel horse to breed to either. Just want something nice for my mare. |

| I think they make nice all around horses. The majority that I have been around/rode/ worked with have turned into nice athletic horses and I'm betting your mare will do just fine with him as a baby daddy. Good Luck!
ETA - spelling!! gah!

Location: Kentucky | With 4 generations back, I wouldn't think Skipper W himself (or Doc Bar) would have any influence on the stud. I would like at something a bit closer up on his papers. |

Location: where ever my L/Q trl is parked | I've got a gggrandd of his with Leo on bottom, a gray mare, she is super easy, stocky as heck and ez to ride. She has done mostly ranch work, heads and heels. She's had 2 colts, one that I have listed on BHW, tobiano colt. Easy keeper and not aggressive at all. I've had another mare back in the 80's was the same way. Skipper W is so far back it's would be really hard to decide where the attitude come from.

Location: In Ky following Barrel Races & Walker hounds. | This is my mare, Skipper W is one off of her papers, but the outrider at the track watched me ride her, and said her attitude is typical of everyone he has ever ridden, just point, and stay out of her way. She is quiet, and very sane, but TOUGH. I would take 100 like her. When I got her she was 14 and had never seen a barrel pattern, she was a natural. She had a ton of rate/turn, and very willing to learn. When you teach her something its like shes thinking the whole time, and processing every move.

Sorry for the picture overload, like I said he is 1 off of her papers but from what I have been told/read she has the attitude/work ethic that is typical of Skippere Ws, and I would own another one in a heartbeat. Her name on allbreed is Leos American Lady. |

Location: Northern CA | Had a Skipper W horse that I absolutely hated, but I cannot blame it on the SW, there were many other horses on those paper too. But it is funny how that name sticks out, and probably has not one thing to do with why I hated the horse..... |

Location: SE KS | I give Skipper W the credit for contributing "pretty" to my mare!!!! Although when I tried to sell her
Skipper W was the against her factor for a lady!!!! Which I thought was hilarious, since he is so far back!!!
