I actually really like this bit. Instead of a curb chain I just bit a thin string. I was riding a real light mare and loved the feel of it on her. I think it's great for colts too who need direct reining rather than neck reining.

slowpoke - 2014-07-31 6:44 AM Looks A bit Snug. That is our bit a Shallow Creek Sc-00 AKA Clover Bit. It is more than o-ring, and less than a shank.  http://www.shallowcreekbit.com
Besides being too tight, is it on correctly? It looks "inside out".
It would be impossible to put it on inside out. Upside sown, yes. This one looks like it's on correctly. Thanks for the info, slowpoke!

So if you took the headstall and curb off you couldn't flip it the other direction?

mruggles - 2014-07-31 11:11 AM im all for home made..but those welds look messy (so that would make me concerned about the balance), just saying

That is part of the reason it made me thing it may be inside out. I have a Shallow Creek Green Futurity and it is a really nice bit.

Nope. :) Look at where the mouth piece attaches to the ring. It is held in place by being attached to the inside, surrounded by the other rings. If it were attached to the outside of the outermost ring like a normal gag, it would be reversible. I'd compare it to a curb that has shanks that are fixed (not reversible) but have a slight swivel action.ย

I just pulled it out of my trailer and I don't think there is anyway to flip it to where it would be inside out.

The mouthpiece on this one is a twisted wire.
