Today is
If you are out there I hope you see this. Your comments on my post about a horse pulling shoes has completely turned my horse around. She is keeping her shoes on a full cycle now and she is developing sole depth and hoof wall. In the post you wrote - I have a horse with the same issues. It's so frustrating. I use the rubber bell boots. I shoe my own horses and I grind down the shoe edges so there are no sharp edges to catch. I have also started using Equi-Pak CS. I put in all in the sole and around the edges of the shoe back by the heals.
My farrier was not sure at first but he is sold on the idea and using it on other horses. He is grinding the heels on the shoes back and doing the Equi-Pak CS doing a full pour all the way back beyond the heels of the shoes around the heel bulbs. Also thanks to Kinda Classy and her comments about a bumper, we use that info to build bumpers on the backs of the hooves out of the pour in material. I could probably take the bell boots off but they are extra insurance.
We hit the road in January
Are you in Texas, if so who's your Farrier?
